Bruin alums, how have you contributed back?

I know there are some alums that still post some useful advice here. Have you done anything else to give back to the university? e.g. donating, volunteering for an event, hosting Dinner for 12 Strangers, etc.

why give back? the federal, state provide financial aid, or they pay tuition, they work hard to graduate

I hate the monthly phone calls I get from UCLA alumni association begging me to consider donating even 5 dollars…

The UCLA library has a nice program, Honor with Books, where if you donate $100 they will put a bookplate in a book in honor or memory of someone that you request. I like that idea better than just giving money and there is nothing tangible to show you ever did so.

Dang, some bitter alums lol. What did you all have a bad time at UCLA or something?

Doesn’t have to be financial contributions, but volunteering on Bruin Day or participating in stuff like Interview with a Bruin or something.

If I make it big one day then sure why not?

*daily *$50 if you’re an engineer

I’m still a student (a graduate student) and I’m not in the LA area anymore, so it’s not as easy for me to contribute.

I contribute annually to the John Wooden athletic fund as well as to two of the “non-revenue” sports that I have season tickets to. I also donate around $150 a year to my old academic department. In addition, I am a lifetime member of the UCLA Alumni Association.
