Bruincard for freshman

I'm an incoming freshman for fall 09
How do you get a bruin card?
I got a call from UCLA telling me I need to do something online and send in my picture.
But it didn't quite make sense when i went on the bruincard website.

help please?

Download a bruincard application for first timers.
Appropriate website: http://www.bruincard.ucla.edu/customer_service/BC%20Terms%20%20Signature%2006.pdf</a></li>

Print it out.

Fill it out.

Send it in an envelope to UCLA’s bruincard people (their address is on the application) with a passport quality photo of yourself (must meet passport photo specifications [found on passport website])
Appropriate website: [Guidelines for Producing High Quality Photographs for U.S. Travel Documents](<a href=“U.S. Passports”>U.S. Passports)

Wait. Hopefully you signed up for an orientation already. You need to send in your bruincard application at least 4 weeks in advance of your orientation date. You should receive the bruincard in the mail a couple weeks before your orientation or you can pick it up at orientation.

Refer to [New Bruins - BruinCard - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](Apply for a BruinCard | Undergraduate Admission) for more details.

Can we go by and have the picture taken in person before orientation (as in this week)?

thanks so much man!

Btw, if you need to get your passport photo taken, it’s actually really easy.
Just go to a Walgreens (some Walmarts do it too I think), some post offices do it, etc etc. Just do an internet search of some places near you. Shouldn’t cost any more than like $10 bucks or so for 2 passport quality photos.

As for “ThisCouldBeHeavn”'s question, no, I don’t think you can. You just have to do like it says and send in a passport quality photo with your BruinCard application, either that or drop it off in person that might work.

what no, another 2013 fail.

if you go to the bruincard office at orientation, you can get a free bruincard immediately. the line is usually long, though…if you show up a little late there will be no line.

so if the picture thing doesnt work out, dont worry. just wait till orientation.

Coscto will do passport photos in about 15 minutes. $5 for two printed photos.

^ I second the costco! =] 2 pictures for $5 oh yes, sweet deals

^ aww man i paid $10 for two at Walgreens…i thought it was a good deal…

“2013 fail” haha.

they’re still learning, i suppose. he did say he “thought” it couldn’t be done, though.

^haha zzzboy is the most blunt of them all, but whatever, thanks for the corrections

a digital camera will do a passport quality photo for free

save the $15

what if you sent the application in, but they don’t send you the bruincard in time for orientation?

would it be the same as if you never sent it in?

I stopped by Kerckhoff yesterday and handed in the form. I waited 1 minute in line, 1 minute to have a picture taken (for free) and 1 minute for the card to be printed. And now I have a BruinCard.

^seniorgirl09 in the confirmation i received, they said they would mail it within 2 wks of my orientation and if it didnt arrive to pick it up during orientation, if you are cool w/ taking the picture there @ orientation thiscouldbeheavn’s advice would be the best to follow, if you havent already mailed the picture and terms&conditions.

so i wouldn’t have to retake it then if i did mail it in?

no, you just pick it up =] this is a copy of my confirmation:

Thank you! We have received your photo and Terms & Conditions form. Your application will be processed as soon as possible. If there is ample time for prior processing, your BruinCard will be mailed approximately two weeks prior to the date of your Orientation session. Once your card has been mailed, you should see the date on which it was sent reflected here. If your card is not received in the mail prior to your Orientation session, a card will be available for pickup when you arrive at Orientation. If you are not attending Orientation, you may pick up your card at a BruinCard Center in September.

ok thanks!

no problem!

sapphire_ocean, did you get that msg in email? I turned in my forms and photo long time ago and never got a response.
