Bruincard question

I'm going to visit the campus next week and plan to turn in the signed form+ 2 passport photo. Can I go to the Bruincard Center and hand them in person?

I don't see why you couldn't.

well we aren't supposed to accept the passport photo if you come in person. Once you are here in person we will just take the picture for you. You also dont have to bring in the terms and conditions because we will have you sign one there as well. But if you want to bring your own signed copy thats fine too :) Hope that helps

@Bruinbee09,

Will it take a lot of time to take the picture there? If so, I would just mail in my pictures and form. My orientation date for transfer student is July 6. Is it too late to send in the pictures?
Thx

taking your picture would take max..2 minutes. Its just filling out a form and then sitting and taking the pic...so yeah you're card will probably be mailed to you before orientation if you do that. If you send your picture in the mail....it really depends when we get it....but most probably it will be ready for you to pick up at orientation.

okay wow i just read the site and it said that they should recieve the card no later than 5 weeks prior to orientation. haha i missed the cutoff by about 2 weeks (first session, july 9).

should i just go to UCLA (i live about 30 minutes away) and take the picture and get my bruincard sometime before orientation?

if i take the pic at UCLA, will i get the card there also? and does anyone have the location of the bruincard office place on campus?

also, is it possible to just do this at orientatioN?

so i sent in a wallet size picture...
what happens?

gogogo: If you have the free time and want to see the campus again then yes go ahead and come to our office. You will get your picture taken but you will not get the card. It will either be mailed to you or ready for pick up at orientation. So maybe your easiest choice is waiting until orientation to take your picture, which you can definitely do! oh, and we have two main offices, one up on the residential hill near Sproul and one in central campus in Kerckhoff.

silly101: depends...is it a white background? and also depends on the picture...really cant tell you unless i see it :(

wallet size is a bit bigger than 2 x 2, I had to cut off quite a bit off my photo to get it down to the correct dimensions.

mkkay thanks bruinbee! now i have 2 more questions haha

if i take the pic at the campus, how long will it take to get delivered to me?

will it be a disadvantage to me if i show up to the orientation without a bruincard, and instead, just take it there?

well the picture (which will be on your bruincard) if mailed out would arrive probably a week before your orientation session...if not it will be ready for you to pick up at orientation
the only disadvantage you will have by arriving without a bruincard is having to wait in a long line when you could be socializing with other kids before going in your respective groups for orientation...but then again you could always socialize in the line since you'll be there awhile heh

^ (10 char)

after submitting a photo, i got a reply back, saying that the resolution was too low. how do i fix that, cause i just took a picture using the camera on my mac and cropped it to the right dimensions...

Take it with a better camera or see if your webcam will give a better resolution

I don't think any cam for computer have good enough resolutions for it, I think you should try to use like maybe a 7mega pixel camera to take it at least... I used my 8mega pixel one and had no problems...

you probably don't need a 7-8 MP camera... its just that those webcams are like 0.3 MP or 1.3MP, which is too low. I am sure 4+ MP is fine, but you could always just get a passport photo done somewhere.
