Bryn Mawr #1 - need safties

D will be applying to Bryn Mawr ED1. Other schools for RD include Haverford, Vassar, Wesleyan, Wellesley, Mount Holyoke & possibly Bard. D wants small (ideally less than 2,500), liberal thinking, LAC in Northeast. Does not want a school with a Greek system. Top 5 - 10% of class, SATs (710 M, 720 CR, 730 W), SAT IIs (730 Bio, 780 US History), weighted GPA 101, 25 college credits at local community college and decent ECs. We are in serious need of some appropriate safty schools. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Among NESCAC schools (basically the top coed New England LACs), the three that are most "liberal thinking" are probably Wesleyan University, Bates College, and Connecticut College. You've already listed Wesleyan, so you might want to look at the other two.

Both Bates and Connecticut College are less selective than Wesleyan, and neither has a Greek system. Bates is the oldest coed school in New England (since 1855). Connecticut College, like Vassar, is a former women's college; it did not admit men until 1969, and is still ~ 60% female.

You should take a look at Wheaton College in Norton, Ma.

If money's an issue Bennington College would be good...I think your D would get in with merit money...

definitely come look at Bennington. I love it here, and it was originally my safety (I was going to apply to Vassar, Sarah Lawrence and Bard) but then after I visited I ended up applying early decision!
