I would like to hear from any current Fords about the level of cooperation that exists now between BMC and HC. Do you think HC students are willing to enroll in BMC courses and live in a BMC dorm to any degree? Do HC students participate in extracurrciular and social activities on the BMC campus? What's the state of the joint activities - such as the Bi-College News? Do BMC students tend to travel to HC for weekend socializing? Would like to hear anything along these lines from a Ford perspective. Thanx.

a very high percentage of haverford students enroll at classes at bryn mawr. if you are an archaeology, cities, or art history major, all of your major coursework must be done at bryn mawr. if you are a language or classics major, you'll have to frequent the mawr since a lot courses in these departments alternate between campuses.

getting to bryn mawr is easy. a bus runs to and fro almost every half hour from 8 am to a little past midnight. on weekends, the bus runs until 2 am. i took one class at bryn mawr my 2nd semester freshmen year and loved it. in fact i prefer bryn mawr to haverford in terms of campus beauty and food. i would often go to bryn mawr just for dinner and then return to haverford. it's refreshing to see new faces and get away from what i consider a fairly stagnant social environment at the ford.

living at bmc is a differnet story. i don't know any students that do this but i'm sure many bmc majors opt to do. i'm also sure haverford males can't live in the glorious rhoads or pem dorms so if you want a better room than what you would be offered at haverford, you probably won't get one.

i'd say more bmc students travel to haverford to participate in clubs (film, radio, etc.) however many forsd go to bmc for the newspaper. my suitemate worked for the newspaper and went to bryn mawr every sunday morning. the radio and film clubs are actually co-headed by mawrtyrs despite the fact that they are by and large haverford based organizations. i think it's a total of something around 80% joint organizations (could be wrong). regardless, the bi-co dynamic is lively and well although it pales in comparison to what it was when both schools were single sex.

there are fewer social events at bmc but radnor parties are often frequented by a contingent of haverford guys (not to mention nova guys). there are many non-party social events that have meshed audiences though many fords choose to stay at home (perhaps out of laziness?) i'd say "parties" are almost an exclusive domain of the ford. bmc girls can be found at almost any major party but also many non-party events as well. some mawrtyrs favor swat but not many.

don't be afraid of bryn mawr and don't listen to the myths some fords will tell you about the place or students. it's a great place. period.
