D17 is accepted, $30k Presidential Scholarship. We are blown away! (Only merit aid receipted so far…)
Waitlisted–still weirdly happy about not being flat out rejected. Congrats to everyone who got accepted
I don’t know where the financial part part is? is it under finances? I can’t find the financial aid part anywhere. I didn’t fill out FAFSA because my parents believed we wouldn’t have gotten any money. If it doesn’t say anything, does it mean I didn’t get any merit aid?
@annnievvv The financial aid is under “Finances” and then a subheading of “Financial Aid” on the “student center.” It should have a link “View Financial Aid” to the left of the box that states “you have no outstanding charges at this time” with Accept/Decline Awards beneath it. hth
@ChalkPastel This is the only thing that shows up under “finances” is “You have no outstanding charges at this time” so I’m assuming I didn’t get any merit aid. But thank you for the help.
Fangirl1999: You have such high scores and stats (I remember from another posting…I think it was Scripps). Why do you think you have received rejections/waitlists? Do you think the schools are trying to protect their yield (ie they think you might accept elsewhere)? It’s discouraging to see someone with your stats not get accepted outright to most places. Do you have places that you have been accepted to so far?
Accepted!! But a couple questions: is there a fb group for accepted students? There is nothing next to the “You have no outstanding charges at this time.” so does this mean no aid? And also @amoeba666 can you describe the social life on campus/ is it hard to meet guys? thanks!! and congrats to all!!
^^ I second those questions!
@oldgrad92 I honestly have no idea. I guess I wasn’t too surprised about Reed and Scripps because I didn’t show much interest, but for Bryn Mawr, I did an overnight and had an interview and I thought they all went really well. I have to admit my BMC supplement wasn’t great, though. There also may have been issues I couldn’t see (I’m thinking my recommendations). I’m not trying to blame it on anyone but myself, but I don’t think any of my recommendations were truly stellar. My class rank isn’t great (top quarter, but not top 10%) and my EC’s are a bit all over the place. I’ll never know what exactly the adcoms saw in my application and didn’t like, but it truly shows that stats aren’t everything. Bryn Mawr especially has a very holistic admissions process.
And I was accepted into Mount Holyoke! It was second on my list so I’m really excited about it, even though I’m still waiting on my decision from my top choice I’ve also been accepted to my safeties but MoHo takes the cake by far!
Also am wondering about the facebook group?!?!
Rejected
Congratulations to everyone who’s been admitted!! I’m wait listed but Bryn Mawr is truly my #1 choice. according to the low admission rate on wait list pool for the last two years(provided by @Fangirl1999 ). I am wondering if Bryn Mawr wait listed those who they don’t want but participated in prospective student programs.
And also, does any one know when is the date for Bryn Mawr to accept wait listed people?
Thanks
Waitlisted, but I didn’t wake up feeling confident today anyway and Bryn Mawr was a bit of reach anyway, so I am not shocked, just disappointed with myself . I have two colleges left to hear from and I am probably getting reject from one (lmao, I showed no interest after applying, idc) and most likely waitlisted from the other (just have that feeling)
@elaela I’d imagine it’s less that they “don’t want” us and more than they were overenrolled last year and the year before. If you look at the common data sets (gotta love those CDSs), the years that BMC admitted people off the waitlist (even if a small amount) they had a relatively consistent class size of ~360 that enrolled. If you look at 2015-16, 385. 2016-17, 407. BMC didn’t have the capacity to admit students from the waitlists like they had in past years. Whether or not they admit from the waitlist depends almost entirely on yield.
@OKPCree What schools?? I have two left to hear from as well! Good luck Hopefully it’s not as bad as you’re anticipating!
@Fangirl1999 Thanks for your reply! You made a really good point there. I guess all we can do right now is to cross our fingers and wish there’ll be some spot left for wait listed people.
Wish you good luck!
@Fangirl1999 American and Lafayette. I just peeped out American’s board and a lot of them already got their decisions, but I haven’t so I am assuming I am not gonna be accepted, but I don’t care at all, I don’t even know why I applied because I just realized how apathetic about it lol. I am confident I am getting waitlisted at Lafayette because my admissions counselor emailed me about my gap year asking for updates and stuff, but abruptly stop replying to further contact last month. I doubt I am going to be rejected because he complimented my updates, but he seemed stopped caring about my profile after that lol. This why I am kinda sad about Bryn Mawr because it was the last of my schools to reply I thought I had a decent shot at and really wanted to attend. I guess I’m heading to Southern Methodist, unless Lafayette works out, but tbh, I am OK with how everything is turning out!
What schools are you waiting for? Good luck!
@OKPCree oh well, good luck anyways! When I saw a show on Broadway, the lead had gone to Southern Methodist!
I’m waiting on Smith and Hamilton. Smith’s competitiveness is similar to BMC’s, and Hamilton is even harder to get into, so I’m not expecting much. Smith has been my top for a while though so if I by some miracle get it, I probably won’t even take a spot on the waitlist.
@elaela Thanks! You too!
I got waitlisted lol
D17 accepted with Pres Scholarship - 25K/year. Thanks to everyone on this site…wouldn’t have seen the merit award without your help!
