Did Exeter post any admission news/stats on their website or in the Exonian like Andover did? Did any other GLADCHEMMS schools post any admission updates?

Are schools done with the process now? Still whittling away at those final spots? Don’t you figure AOs have had it by tomorrow and can’t wait for TGIF?

see this CC thread for Exonian article: (I can’t get it to link, sorry)
2011 Admission article in the Exonian

Does anyone know how far Exeter is along the way with decisions. My family just got emailed asking for one more fa document to determine our grant or something

^I just received an e-mail like that also (not from Exeter).

I’m assuming that right now the schools are making sure they didn’t give out too much financial aid and are trying to see if they meet their budget. Most of the decisions are probably made and they will be stuffing envelopes soon, if not already.

Today I received an email from Andover with a link to a blog from the Andover Director of Admissions…decisions have been made … 10% increase in applications over the prior year with a 14% acceptance rate. The blog gave a lot of good information about how to prepare for March 10 decision day. If anyone wants the detailed info private message me.

I got that e-mail from Andover too, for some reason I didn’t like how it was worded. There was one part that I felt was a bit condescending, but that’s just me.

I was intimidated by them telling me if one door closes, another one opens. What are they trying to tell me? I just don’t want another door. :(

They’re probably just trying to reassure all the good applicants they have to reject, remind them that their lives aren’t over and they’ll be fine in the long-run. Doesn’t mean that it won’t suck not to get in :(

Don’t feel offended. I suspect that BS’s get a lot of “blow-back” after the decisions are made - especially of the student is qualified but isn’t offered a spot. It’s not rejection of the person, just the reality of too many good kids for too few spots and haggard Adcoms trying to find the best mix for the new year.

So the letter was meant as helping student prep by understanding what the school was up against.

From out West:

The Thacher School is putting the finishing touches on the most successful admission season in its history. Applications are currently up 11 percent over last year at this time. Once again, the School’s acceptance rate is expected to be below 20 percent, and the yield rate is expected to remain the highest for any college, university, or boarding school in the country (about 80 percent). Applications have come from 28 states and an amazing 20 different countries.

Can we see stats on schools’ yield?

I think the post from Andover is copied from last year with some modification such as stats and so on. Fried may not need to write a new one but it seems to me the essay is not special.
