Anyone here do this? How much longer did it take to finish a MS degree than a typical chemical engineering student? How many remedial classes did you have to go through?

And is it possible to enter top grad programs or do they usually take only chem engineering students? Anyone know any schools that have post-bac programs where a student can enter and take engineering classes?

I don’t know too much, but what I do know is that you’ll prolly have to take some Math/Engineering classes before you can start on your masters. So it will probably take you 2-3 years to finish it.

Usually, you will have to take a year-long crash course in the bachelor’s level chemical engineering before you start the master’s level courses.

It will take a lot longer. Most graduate programs require 6-7 core classes in addition to your electives/research. Since you don’t have a ChemE background, you won’t have the necessary prerequisites for the core classes.

As always, it really depends on your adviser/program but most programs will require you to take a semester or two of undergraduate classes to catch up.

You’ll need at the very least: Thermo, Transport Phenomena, Numerical Methods/Math Class, Reactor Class, Statistics, Transport Processes.
