BS Class of 2017 Thread

@soxmom, we bought a mug at each college we visited (unless we really had a negative visit). D would not consider a t shirt or hoodie for fear of jinxing. I just ordered a hoodie from her first choice school’s bookstore and I really, really hope I don’t jinx her. I wanted to have it here so that I could give it to her in the moment if the news is good.

We did not even go to any college coop or bookstores. Many moons ago during my graduate school years I collected college mugs while visiting friends or visiting for conferences/workshops. I have mugs from all Ivies+SM and most of Top 30 schools. So I have vintage collge mugs and they are not made in China  DS1 is not applying to any of those schools. :frowning:

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one! But I’m not buying the hoodie or other gear until he gets the actual decision – still plenty of time to order something then to put under the Christmas tree.

Mug = no jinx, hoodie or t-shirt = jinx. haha, that made me chuckle.

Several schools will give you a t shirt if you attend an accepted students day, and others send them when you enroll. File that under “things I didn’t know when I was in the Bookstore handing over my credit card”. Bright side? Mom has gym shirts for the next decade.

DD got into her ED school today - not sure if she is more excited about acceptance or the fact that she doesn’t have to finish those RD apps she has been procrastinating on! :))

Congrats to StigKid! Now your D can really enjoy the holiday break! I love news like this. (Are you able to share her destination?)

Congrats @TheStig2 !

Congratulations @TheStig2! <:-P <:-P

Yay!!! That’s SUCH exciting news @TheStig2 !!!

Yea for all of you! So nice to have the process in the rear view mirror. Enjoy the rest of senior year!

Thanks all, congrats to those who have decisions in hand and good luck to everyone still immersed in the process.
DD knew she wanted an urban, larger school rather than an LAC as a departure from her small local school and then BS. She will be going to Penn and I ordered swag today. I was in the premerch = jinx camp so held off. 25% off sale in bookstore, yay!

Well, apparently I did jinx SoxBoy. Deferred from his ED college. So now he’s got to scramble and do all the rest of his applications over winter break. He seems to be taking the news more stoically than I am.

@soxmom pretty sure it wasn’t you jinxing him. Just this crazy competitve world we live in. Happy to hear your son is taking it well. Good luck for you to move on as quickly as him. I have lived through it twice now and it was an emotional roller coaster for me – oh and them!

@soxmom I am with @vegas1 on this one. Good luck to him in the Regular cycle. Is ED2 somewhere a possibility? I am not 100% sure how it works… but thought of it while I was posting this.

@soxmom, It sounds horribly cliched, but I would say that pain gives a person much more to learn than success - long term. Glad your son is taking it well. I wish him all the best for RD applications.

Ugh, sorry @soxmom and family. This was our fate last year as well. But it all worked out in the end, save a few gray hairs for me. DS took it all in stride. Helped that many of his friends had similar experiences with their ED schools. Besides, what would you have to worry about if not this?

Same situation here as @soxmom . After and chat with this CC and a few days of mulling the ED2 or not to ED2 question, he’s moving on to ED2. A couple of his schools have Jan. 1 deadlines for applications so we’re in for a bit of a scramble too.

I haven’t spoken to DS this week, so don’t know if his friends have heard yet, but many ED/EA decisions are coming out later this week, so many are still waiting.

A classmate got her ED acceptance from Middlebury sometime prior to past Sunday, so the “slow” drip is on
