@stargirl3 I think he will really enjoy the female to male ratio (and the even higher female to straight male ratio!).
Congrats @twinsmama ! That is wonderful news!
Yes…!!!
Ah, the traditional “The class of 20XX is only a few short weeks from graduation, let’s try to make sure they don’t do anything to jeopardize their ability to walk with their classmates…” letter.
Anyone else get theirs yet?
We received something like that a few weeks ago. This one was more directed at the parents, warning us not to let our kids do anything stupid during graduation. Reminding us that they are underage and shouldn’t be drinking as well as our legal responsibility if we provide alcohol.
I’m sure the other one will be coming soon.
@Momto4kids: I was referencing the parent one…just got ours today.
We havent gotten the letter yet- but have been giving what seems like weekly warnings to DS.
I do know that at Andover few years ago parents brought Cuban cigars, as soon as school awarded diplomas, many kids lit up the cigars including girls. No body said a damn thing. My kids were culprit too.
I do no know about prep school but at Harvard kid brought kegs of beer to drink, as freshman. I do not recall clearly but I think there is a tradition to run naked in Harvrad yard at some point.
This happens every year.
Which happens at pretty much every single residential college in the U.S.
Again, not unique. At Harvard, it’s the night before the first day of finals. It’s also one of the three traditional things one must do before graduating. The other 2 being peeing on the John Harvard statue (rather ties in with the kegs =)) ) and having sex in the Widener stacks.
@skieurope So have you prepared for graduation?
@skieurope I have other day daughter’s house full of kids who were telling these things. I just kept my mouth shut just smile and nod . I wish I was young too, but now this old wrinkled lady can only comment
Harvard has now risen in my eyes. Three solid reasons to apply.
@twinsmama As I advise incoming students all the time, it is important to get the distribution requirements out of the way early in the college career so that the later years can be focused on the major. >:)
Does Exeter still do the naked run…Ho in the Snow or whatever?
FWIW, cigars seem fairly common at BS graduations…
Sigh to the cigars. ChoatieSgt’s cigar habit started at Choate.
The cigar thing grosses me out. We have a hug line on graduation, but it’s not pleasant to hug someone who’s smoking in your face.
I really dislike the cigar thing.
Haven’t posted in a while. College admissions plus boarding school admissions= very busy mommy. My BS 2018 graduate FINALLY made up her mind. She waited until I cornered her this past weekend and glad she pulled the trigger. She is RIT Bound…class of 2022. She will be a Film and Animation Major concentrating in 3D computer Animation. I can’t believe our kids are heading to college. I feel like I just found this site when researching boarding schools.
My younger daughter is heading to Darrow School in the fall…class of 2022. Luckily, college and HS graduations occur during different months for these two schools.
Congratulations to all of the 2018 BS students and good luck to your new adventures this fall. =D>
Wow, @NYCMomof3 , new chapter ahead. And it sounds like a great one. Enjoy the end of this one!
Cigars are the right of passage at every prep school and lots of public schools.
