Curious if any BS parents have sent out personalized graduation announcements to friends/family? I’ve been asked by several family members whether they will receive one from my D graduating BS next week. This seems like a tradition in public HS and maybe day schools. The 2 announcements we received this year were beautiful cardstock with pictures from professional photoshoots and also invitation to a party/graduation. I don’t know any one at my D’s BS who even did a senior photo session. Did we violate some social etiquette rule by not sending those out? :-/
The school gave us nicely designed and printed announcements. We didn’t send them out nor did we send out any kind of personalized announcements. Close friends and family knew they were graduating. That’s all that mattered to us. Just my personal views but they seem like “gift grabs” to me.
I remember the card stock invites/announcements from when I graduated from a private HS back in the day. They were available from 7D2’s school…but like doschicos, we didn’t send out announcements. The only folks who we invited to graduation are gps and my brother, and we did that face to face.
We got a digital image that we could either email to friends and relatives or print and mail. We have done neither; I’m not inviting anyone to graduation, and sending it out when it’s not a real invitation just looks like we’re fishing for gifts (not that I’m above that :-)).
We sent nice graduation announcements with photos for all 3 of our kids (2 graduated from BS, one from LPS) to family and a few close family friends. ( no photographers used). We included the few official graduation invitations the school provided to the family members who we thought would appreciate them most.
We have a big extended family and this is a tradition we all follow - high school, college, weddings, babies. I have 3 hanging in my office now from other family members kids. I love getting them and seeing how grown up all these kids are. We are flying out west for 2 college graduations in a few weeks and have family flying in for our sons graduation.
NMH provided about 7 (?) printed official graduation announcements that our daughter mailed to grandparents, aunts, uncles (only those invited to attend).
Wishing all of you P18 folks a happy commencement and congrats to your kids. This is such an amazing chapter coming to an end.
It’s hard not to feel emotional watching your kids say adieu to a community and friends who shared what may be the most transformative 4 years of their lives. Sure, they will stay in touch, and they will see each other at reunions, but what has been an intense present is, in this moment, now past.
And just like that, it’s on to the next installment. … Which will be, in its own way, equally exciting.
Here’s to the class of 2018! Cheers!
Congratulations to the BS class of 2018!
Groton’s Prize Day is next weekend. I’m so excited, both to have him home and to experience this with him!
Congratulations to all of you and to your children! I wish them happiness and success in college and beyond.
2018 is a good year for you all! Enjoy!!!
Like it never happened… so surreal
@jdewey I know what you mean.
I trust all the CC BS Class of 2018s done and graduated by now?
Life’s been a whirlwind since the days leading up to graduation…other graduations/graduation parties to attend, etc. Looking forward to things settling into a more normal routine for the rest of summer.
@SevenDad yes…she has graduated and now looking forward to some time off. We have our 8th graders graduation this coming Monday…then we are all done! Hope everyone has a great summer!
I am WAY behind the times @stargirl3 Just read your plans and wanted to send my congrats! Sounds like you have a wonderful few years ahead of you. Good on you!
@twinsmama I would love to chat with you about Mercersburg as it has made our short list for our 7th grade daughter. I don’t believe I have enough posts to PM you… would you mind PMing me instead? Thanks a million!
Public service announcement for new grads: Boarding School Review pays students $20 for writing reviews (and they verify that the student attended, to keep things legit). My son then enjoyed buying something on eBay for exactly that $20 in PayPal money.
Okay parents of BS 2018s…anyone else move their kid into college yet? We have.
Moved our DS in Wednesday. As he is our low maintenance kid- and the college is only an hour away- it was super painless (except for the fact we forgot hangers, comforter and a pillow, as he had been using it all this summer and refused to buy anything new). Doesn’t hurt that he is loving it so far and we will drive down to celebrate his 18th birthday with him next week.
Now on to a 10 hour drive tomorrow to move in our not so low maintenance daughter for her senior fall tomorrow.
