Deweykid is all moved into apartment with Brandies room mates. First apartment gave me huge feelings, more so than college drop off. I’m super proud of them for finding apt, handling lease and utilities and finding room mates at a new school. Younger kid leaves for Maine Coast Semester in a week, soooo exciting! and then… I will have an empty nest for 5 months… :o
Don’t forget to remind your kids to get absentee ballots for November!
Feeling guilty because my two did not vote absentee in our last local election - and our preferred candidate just squeaked by and the deciding factor was absentee ballots. As they say at NMH “Don’t be that kid!” lol
@chemmchimney My daughter felt very guilty because she forgot to send her ballot. At least I know she is less likely to forget next year!
So what’s everyone doing these days? My daughter spent the last semester in Paris - yes, much of it under quarantine, but she chose to stay (she was with a host family in a nice house, not alone in a dorm room). Her summer internship was canceled, but she found new ones (two part-time) with a couple of non-profits and has started doing interesting work. My son has been home since spring break. He found an interesting internship in DC and a place to live, but the internship is still remote and he regrets having started to pay rent. He is considering not moving there at all, if he can get out of the July and August rent. How are other 2018 grads faring?
I know this thread is retiring but I wanted to share some good news. We all could use some. Deweykid’s younger sibling who did not get FA to go to boarding school just got into their dream school for college. It has me thinking a lot about the path not taken and how they created a great high school career on their own. DeweykidII was invited to candidates week at Olin College of Engineering but has to walk away, because they are joining Harvey Mudd class of 2025!
Congratulations to deweykid2! A great reminder that there are so many paths to great outcomes.
Congrats to them!!
