Hey did anyone here interview for case western 3+4? Did you get your results yet?
the results for cwru 3+4 are out!
Was it an email or an update on your portal?
It was an email! I got into UToledo/ CWRU !
I havenāt gotten anything yet, I applied to CWRU PPSP though. Did you guys apply to different undergrads- @TheRose21 and @sunnybunny236?
CWRU PPSP (CWRU for 3 years, CWRU Dental for 4 years) finalists came out a longgggg time ago! Check your portal!
thank you!
No I meant final decisions after interviewing, but I just got it today! I was accepted to their PPSP program!
congrats!!! just be wary of CWRU Dentalās red flags.
Is anyone planning to skip taking their final AP exams ? Is that a problem ?
What do you mean by that? (Edit- didnāt mean for that to be rude, sorry)
@TheRose21 - are these programs guaranteed admission to upenn dental programs as long as you maintain your grades or is there another selection process that you need to go through.
Hi! These programs are guaranteed admission to Penn Dental as long as you a) keep a 3.5+ gpa in college b) get a 20 on the DAT and c) avoid burning down any buildings
You still have to submit a formal AADSAS application to Penn at either the end of your sophomore year or early into your junior year to formally confirm your spot at Penn.
I pm-ed you! Also out of curiousity- which college/ dental school did you end up taking? (you donāt have to answer this if you donāt want to)
Hello,
Iām looking for clarification on BS/DMD programs. Do you apply straight from high school to be admitted into both programs, or do you need to apply for the dental program once in the college? Do you still need to take the DAT?
Thank you
Each school has their own protocols. You generally get admitted to the BS/DDS track. Competition is fierce.
Most require a minimum DAT score plus a minimum GPA (these numbers are high). At some schools this gets you a guaranteed interview and nothing else, others possibly guaranteed admission to their DS. You will still need shadowing, research, volunteer work; itās a lot to pack into 2 years of undergrad because you generally apply June 1 before junior year for a 3+4 program. It just depends, check each school individually. Look at finances, and how all 5 to 8 years are paid.
I suggest you shadow several dentists and be absolutely sure this is the career you want. Thereās a lot of difference from age 17 to 22, and college is an excellent time to explore other career paths. The predent track is the same for other fields of healthcare, you can always circle back to dentistry junior or senior year.
Hi! My daughter just received the interview invite for the PPSP Dental program. Wondering if anyone from the past year can shed some light on the format and content of the PPSP dental interviews to help her prep? Thanks.
@TheRose21 - can you please elaborate on the red flags for case dental.
My daughter is considering that over Upitt, NSU, UOP and Muhlenberg/Upenn- greatly appreciate
Where did you choose? My son just got accepted at UOP. Have not received the details on if it is 2+3 or 3+3.
Hi! Congratulations to your son! UOPās program is great and hard to get into!
I ended up choosing Marquetteās BS/DDS 7-year program over Penn/Penn. I ultimately chose it for the clinical experience and price, as well as work/life balance (really wanted a D1 school for sports games) and the opportunity to grow in a place far away from my home state! It was very hard to set aside institution prestige and make the best choice for my goals as a future dental provider; and living in Milwaukee for 7 years is DEFINITELY not for everyone; but I can say that I am happy where I am at and I donāt regret my decision. *For those reading- I hope that you are able to make the best choice for yourself, regardless of what others input, because you know deep down where you will be happiest. I eliminated UOP off my list pretty early on because I hated the undergraduate campus and I wanted guaranteed dental acceptance, not just an interview. But I know others who are very happy with UOP / Penn + so forth!!! (STILL highly recommend steering clear of CWRU, though. I checked with a dental student again this year because one of my friends was very close to committing there and administration is still just as bad).
Best of luck to applicants this cycle!!! you got this!!!
