B's in math really bad?

I have gotten only b’s in math throughout my high school year so far. I am currently a junior and I will be getting a B for the first semester. I have only been taking honors math classes though and I really want to go in to engineering. I am also taking Honors Physics which I got an A in both semesters as well as 2 years of computer programming (I got B’s all 4 semesters). I am getting really worried that i will not be accepted into the college that I want to go to (which is the university of Maryland college park). What are my chances?

Honestly…Unless you’re aiming for Ivy league caliber, you should be fine. Just push and do your best 2nd semester. I was going to say “it’s okay if it’s only one subject” but since you are an engineering major, you should try your best to improve. Don’t stress too much… Best of luck.

Don’t be surprised if you aren’t directly admitted to engineering and are instead put in letters and sciences. This is to see how you perform in your math and physics classes at the college level. If you finish above the requirements for the LEP it’s guaranteed admit into engineering. That said, math is the most important subject for an engineering major, really try to focus on that so any coursework built off it (like physics) will be easier/make more sense.
