Hey there.
So, I have a BS in plant biology. My GPA was a 2.2 when I graduated unfortunately, but I applied to places like mad and got an internship at a company. I eventually worked my way up and got a research technician job there. I now have 2.5 years of lab/research experience. The company ended up going out of business…due to budget issues, and it all happened so fast. I didn’t really apply anywhere, and decided that I wanted to get an AAS in software development and data science. I’m really interested in bioinformatics, so I was wanting to try to get a job in that. However, I’m having second thoughts, and I’m afraid that I won’t be able to get a good job after I finish the AAS. To be honest, I could probably get another research technician job at a plant science company, but I really want to expand on my options. I’ve been looking at the MLT program at my community college…I feel like this would be a good program to really develop my lab skills better, but I’m not sure. I’m open to all kinds of routes…dental hygiene seems cool too.
I mainly don’t want to waste my time and money. I want to develop my skills and have a good career after I graduate with an AS or whatever.
Any advice? Any programs you think I should do?
