I'm looking to apply to a lot of BS/MD Programs, and all of them require essays.
I always hear that it's good to be innovative and show ur personality for ur reg app essays.. Do these bs/md essays hold the same criteria, or do you have to be a bit more striaghtforward/ serious? The reason that I'm asking is that I wrote a decent essay (in my opinion) that was a bit lighthearted I guess for a BS/MD program. I gave it to one of my friends whose in a BS MD program at temple, and he basically revised the heck out of it and cut out a lot.. It's def better structured now and stuff, but it seems like it's missing a part of me.. Like it seems like the billion other essays that the admissions people will read.. Not really original. So i guess what I'm trying to ask is like when applying to these programs , do u try to integrate yourself in your essays by making jokes and asides that bring life to your paper? Or do you just write a solid, passionate piece of writing that is serious and meaningful?
