BS/MD Guide Book Review

Hi,

I am thinking about buying the book: BS/MD Programs-The Complete Guide: Getting into Medical School from High School by Todd A Johnson (Amazon.com: BS/MD Programs-The Complete Guide: Getting into Medical School from High School (9780983213208): Todd A Johnson: Books). If you have read this book before, is it worth reading? Thanks in advance.

From reading the reviews, I think it is worth reading if you are seriously considering bs/md programs. I am a junior, and I am really thinking about applying to some of these programs next year. What I find when I am researching these types of programs is that there are very little resources out there on the internet. It is pretty hard to find a comprehensive listing and description of bs/md programs, and according to the reviews, the book seems to have a very valuable list. I might end up buying this, it seems to be worth a look.

I was thinking on buying this too. I probably will even if it isn’t worth it. I mean it doesn’t compare to the $200,000 - $400,000 you will have to pay for college.

Almost every student accepted in EMSAP at UAB gets free tuition, even out–of-state students, because we award scholarships formulaically by ACT and SAT scores. Check us out at:

Professor, School of Medicine (retired) and Department of Philosophy

I just purchased the book for my son who is now a junior. It is compact. Nothing new, however, it is going to be useful and help me saving time, especially with the list of schools for combined program. It is worth getting it.

GregoryPence, does UAB-EMSAP review in-state and OOS applicants separately?
My son (currently junior) will be applying from New England area where there is no combined program in the state.
UAB is one of schools we are interested in (actually first on my list due to the scholarship opportunity). And I know from my experience that their medical school is very good. Hope my son gets in next year!

I think that the University of Rochester REMS Program is certainly one of the best, most selective, and most competitive rivaling HPME and PLME!
