Okay - I finally got in touch with UAB and they said that interview notifications will still be sent out for the next few weeks and that if we do get rejected to the program, they WILL let us know. I don’t think we have to lose hope yet! :)

@retro22 yes I am from NY…

Does that give me an advantage?
Despite my pretty average test scores, my essay for the program was very good. I also had great ECs.

Thanks for posting sanguinee - good news for all that haven’t heard yet. And, I’m glad to hear they will let the rejected folks know.

Did anyone get an email from Villanova saying that their application had been forwarded to Drexel Med?

Drexel forwarded to medical school for review (email 1/7)

Villanova also sent an email(1/7)…your supplement to the Villanova/Drexel BS/MD Affiliate Program has been received. Drexel College of Medicine will begin reviewing the applications and by the end of January a decision will be made as to who will be interviewed by Drexel

I received the Villanova email also.

@retro22: I was rejected from both PSU and Siena as well. PSU I’m not too surprised, but with my amount of activities and stats, I thought I would at least get an interview at Siena:

SAT: 2240
GPA: 4.3
EC: many medical related ones, varsity xc/track and field (4 years), many leadership roles in extracurriculars (mainly humanitarian ones).
Essay: I thought it was very well-written (as did my teachers)

I truthfully don’t know what they are looking for anymore. I really thought I had a shot, but oh well. Congratulations to all that was accepted. I’m sure you guys deserved it.

I was almost certain I’d get at least an interview at UAB. I guess the school just assumed I overlooked medical extracurriculars when I actually had a few medical problems within my family that really took a toll on that.

Anyway, for reference:
ACT: 35 (35, 36, 35, 32, 9)
GPA (Weighted/Unweighted): 4.5/3.9
Rank: 1
Subject Tests: 780 Math II, 730 Chemistry
AP Scores: 5 Chemistry, 5 English Lang, 5 APUSH, 4 Psychology, 3 European History
IB Scores: 6 Chemistry SL

Volunteering: About 500 hours; half are in tutoring programs for my base school and the other are in forms of work-study required for CAS in IB (I’m doing a business-management thing currently and last year I did some supervised math teaching at a middle school)
Extracurriculars: Math Team (Captain), Mu Alpha Theta (VP), Physics Team (Captain), and Chess Club (Founder). I’ve done Karate in the past, but I quit after I got a black belt as a freshman.
Awards: I have some obscure awards but they’re fairly solid (state science fair semifinalist, a few national creative writing awards, and a top-15 finish at a national math tournament in a science category)
Hook: URM (Native American; I seriously doubt it helps)

Honestly since this was my favorite school (contingent upon EMPSAP) I really have no clue what I’m going to do after the rest of this admissions cycle. Hopefully it’s for the best…

@Skeezy, did you not read my previous post from what I heard when I spoke to them? You aren’t out of the running just yet.

They sent me an email saying I am :p

Really?? I still haven’t received a rejection email, so I guess that’s good. Sorry about that! By the way, when did you receive your rejection and was it email/mail?

Email, and around 3:00 today.

Does anyone

Does anyone know if you are rejected from the siena amc program that you are also rejected from union and rpi? I got rejected from siena… So far I applied to 11 programs like med but only got interviews from njit and umkc that’s it I felt horrible today! union Still didn’t send me supplement since they updated my status bout forwarding this weekend. How many interviews did everyone else get?

so i have given up hope on rpi, but im still waiting for gwu/gwu and vcu. anyone heard from them?

@desigirl23 i got rejected from siena/amc too ugh i was depressed all day. and i got an interview for njit too ahahah

^
Did you get an interview for the NJIT/NJMS program or for the Honors College at NJIT?

The undergraduate institutions are separate from the medical school. You can be rejected from Siena, but you can get accepted to the BS/MD programs at RPI and Union.

I wouldn’t worry about how many interview invites you have thus far. Looking at the results it appears that one school’s decision does not reflect what others schools may think about your application. I got interviews at programs ranked much higher than UAB, but somehow didn’t even get an interview invite for UAB. Each BS/MD program is looking for something different.

That being said, I hope this is a good month for us all. Let the interview invites commence! :)

yeah i had that “crap, looks like I’m not getting in anywhere” moment today too. I’ve applied to 8 programs (1 accepted, 1 rejected?, 6 in waiting/ no update).

desigirl - are you admitted to Union? The turn around is quite quick for them to pass on to albany and albany asking you to file a supplement.

Make sure you check your spam folders for emails from albany.
