***BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2013***

forcollege - one of our friends was in a similar situation with an EA admission. The only money Harvard gives out is FA based and when they requested Harvard take a second look, they got something like 10k as something labelled dept scholarship. However the kid ended up in an elite combined program with some scholarship money.

Anyone know when we find out about UMKC’s program for the Nov. 1 deadline?

So Robert morris just informed me that only 3-4 applications came in this year for their bs/md with drexel hint for future students

sanguinee, which program with drexel med are you referring to? drexel/drexel or one of their other smaller programs?

Has anyone heard back from UCinci yet? I got snail mail reminding me of my UG admission, but I think the med school is sending out emails today and tomorrow

@longlegs, i think you’re addressing butterfli? and I believe she’s talking about RMU/Drexel pgm

@texaspg thanks for the information! We will definitely try that (:

@thebombingrange & @theking101, sorry for the late reply. although bu is very very expensive (and yes I applied to trustee although I do not expect to receive it). BU has been my top choice since I was 7, and when I found out about the med program it just made the school that much better. everything @thebombingrange pointed out is right - i love the campus, the feel of the school & the academics are a plus. can’t really explain why, it’s just always been that way!

That is a good response and
I respect your POV.

This is my first post. My daughter has an interview with Siena/AMC in a few weeks. Anyone know what to expect? We are both really nervous. This is her first BS/MD interview. Thanks in advance!

What are her stats? What medical ECs does she have? Siena loves volunteering, say something about that.

Her stats are good, but not as amazing as some of stats from those who got denied.
ACT is 33 superscored.
GPA - 99.2 Unweighted
Her school doesn’t rank, but she is either 2 or 3/56 (She goes to a small all-girls Catholic School).
AP Lang - 5
AP US History - 5
AP Bio (taking now)
AP Lit (taking now)
AP Calc (taking now)
AP Stats (taking now)
AP Government (taking now)
College Chemistry (taking now)

NHS Treasurer
Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award from U of Roch
National Computing Medal from RIT
Cum Laude National Latin Exam

Science Olympiad - 3 medals
Math/Science Club
Math/Science Peer Tutor
Varsity Soccer Captain
LOTS of community service/volunteer hours
Shadowed 2 physicians
Currently works @ grocery store 15-20 hrs./wk and babysits

I fully agree that Siena loves to see volunteer and community service work, as the whole program is service oriented. My daughter also loved the campus and visited 3-4 times over a 15 month period. We live in NY state, but about 4 hours from campus.

I don’t believe colleges superscore ACTs, only SATs. Where else did she apply? Did she do the REMS program with U of Roch (I see she won an award from them)? Overall she seems very well rounded, which is what Siena likes.

It’s becoming more and more common for colleges to superscore the ACT. My daughter’s ACT scores were better than her SAT’s, so we made a specific point to contact the admissions department at each of the schools she applied to to confirm whether the school did infact superscore ACTs. She applied to Siena/AMC, U of Rochester REMS, Cornell, Canisius College (this was her safe school, and they have an Early Assurance Med Program with 90% acceptance rate to Univ of Buffalo) and Notre Dame. Of the schools she applied to, only Notre Dame did not superscore ACTs.

She has, so far, been accepted into the All College Honors Program at Canisius, gotten an interview with Siena/AMC, and got denied at Notre Dame. We have not heard yet from U of R or Cornell. Her guidance counselor called Notre Dame because she was surprised my daughter did not get in. They told her they had 10% more applicants this year than last year and were even more selective than usual.

@phloppy95 The last email from UCinci that I received said that results will be out at 5 EST today. Best of luck!

Rejected to UCinn! Supposedly an ‘easier’ program to get into.

Can out of state apply to UCinn?

yes 10char

I received the AMC supplemental for RPI today. I had already abandoned all hope for this school

Rejected U cinn lol thought it was supposedly easy…i think ohio hates me…waiting for my toledo rejection!
