@newyorkgirl123 I had an interview for RPI/AMC

@saxplayer could you tell me how it was or pm me more about it & your supplemental? I got the RPI supplemental today and I’m not sure if I should fill it out since I was pretty much auto-rejected to Union/AMC.

Also got an interview for USciences

@sanguine where did u get interviews at so far?

@sanguinee the interview was pretty weird (I’m not sure how much it counts). When we arrived, we had an info session (parents were allowed to attend). Then, some current students came to eat lunch with us and give us a tour. Parents were taken on a tour as well; then they had the rest of the day to themselves. After lunch and the tour, we were brought back to the room. Some of the committee members (Mrs. Sgarlata, Dr. Andersen, and Mr. Pritchett) came in for the group interview session. This part was pretty intense. Dr. Andersen had read each of our applications and picked out a specific question only relevant to our application. I think the questions came out of the essays we wrote, not the box on the app that asks what you would like to discuss at the interview. After that, we had the group activity. We had fifteen minutes to come up with a presentation about tips from seniors to freshman in succeeding in high school and college apps. Finally, they brought us back to the admission office area to wait for our individual interviews. Almost everyone had a different person. I know some Union kids got researchers. I heard someone had a neuroscientist that showed them scans of the brain that they had to interpret (this was a Union kid that didn’t have any neuro research in their app or anything neuro related)! I had a neonatologist that was…interesting to say the least. He told me up front that he wouldn’t ask me anything that I put in my app because it would be a waste of time. I felt it was like an alumni interview…He asked about my hobbies, how I view myself in 30 years, etc. The hardest thing he asked me was an ethical situation. I had to pretend I was a pediatric oncologist with a patient with pretty agressive, but treatable cancer. The parents are well read and understand everything, but they want to go with a homeopathic treatment involving almond extract. What do you do? I think he asked me this question because my father is an oncologist (not peds). I really didn’t know how to approach the question, but I tried to give the best answer possible. Also, he didn’t ask me anything about my research, even though this was an interview for the physician-scientist program They review everyone’s file the Wednesday after your interview and come up with a decision: accepted, under consideration, or rejected. They told us that very few people are accepted right away, and most students fall in the under consideration group. They release acceptances on a rolling basis, so if you hear someone telling you that you have a 2/3 chance of getting in, take it with a grain of salt. Also, Mrs. Sgarlata told us that they invite 100 per program, not 100 total. Hope that helps! Good luck!

thank you @sax. that was very helpful. also was there anything in your supplemental that made them pick you for an interview? and did you find out if you were accepted?

@desigirl usciences and potentially rpi

Baylor 2 Baylor notifications just went out. Who got invited? If you’d prefer, pm me.

Baylor 2 Baylor is on the same day as Casewestern ): Does anybody know how many make it to the 2nd interview round for baylor/baylor?

@archi2 I got rosemont too!!! and robert morris and ursinus. still waiting on kean, that’s probably what’s holding drexel back.

Siena/AMC was 46, not 100. The other programs have different focuses and thus pull different amounts of students.

@bombingrange
here are the numbers
rpi: 100 interviewees
union: 100 interviewees
sienna: 46 interviewees.
rpi and union are more closely related in the screening processes, but sienna is a little different so they choose less for the interview.

just had my uconn SPiM interview yesterday. Absolutely loved the school and the program, its currently my number 1 choice hopefully it works out

How many ended up interviewing for UConn? Too bad, I would have liked to get in interview there. Still hoping for Stony Brook in March…

there were 39 interviews out of 500+ applicants, supposed to hear back early march, so nervous! It was a group interview and it seemed as if everyone in my group had a great interview so its a very close race. I too am hoping to hear back from stony in march as well as from hofstra bsmd in the near future

@TheBombing how many interviews have you gotten so far?

5 done, 1 more coming up. I also am praying for Stony Brook to give me an interview. They are my top choice because they are affordable (in state) and coming up in the rankings. I’m not big on name, I’m big on value.

Good luck, i’m sure you’ll get it.

An interview with Stony Brook? I really hope so! As I said before, I got a GW interview 29/850, but I didn’t get one with UConn for 40/400. I know that Stony Brook only takes a few people each year, and I hope I will be one of them!

@sanguinee hmm…they didn’t specify why I got an interview, but I guess it’s based on the essay. They have not notified us yet

How many seats exist at AMC for each of the partner schools?

For those who had a USciences interview - is the interview at the Med School? And any interview questions would be helpful.
