Weird that I didn’t get an interview for BU SMED but got into NU HPME

WeisCool…just goes to show how random and unpredictable this pursuit can be…

LOL @WelsCool: I was rejected from NU HPME but got into BU SMED :D

Has anybody ever called a school to inquire about why he/she was rejected? Do people even do that??

Any information about Rice - Baylor and UTPACT?

FrozenShardz…I called and got the old “its that we accepted others…you were not REJECTED, we were not ABLE to ACCEPT all of the superior candidates”. They very carefully choose their words as they sugar-coat your demise! I try NOT to take it personally …hard to not do so…

@dumich That’s exactly what I’m thinking myself. It’s really tough for us considering we were so close, but I’m ultimately a believer of everything happening for a reason and for the best. Rejection sucks for everybody, but all of us will get through it and work hard to become physicians regardless. HPME would’ve been nice, but I’m taking it as a blessing in disguise. I put my heart into whatever I’ve done and I know I will do so in the future, and I’m sure you will too
We’re both great for having gotten that far.

UT-Pact decision release date was changed to April 2nd from March 24.

Accepted to BU SMED as well!!! :)

@Wasian88 and @DreamAway- CONGRATS!!! :D

@MedicalBoy- We’ll always be twins at heart.
And agreed, you are so nice!

Do you guys think getting an interview for Stony Med is an indication that you are a strong application or does it mean nothing? I’m a little confused. I thought it meant nothing, but I searched through forums and there are kids who get into columbia and other top schools who never get interviews from stony med…?

Hopefully University of Miami HPME results come out this week!!

@dumich @dumich During this process, I realized how random everything is. I was rejected for interviews at places where I thought would be sure bets and asked for interviews at places where I thought were longshots. I was rejected at places were I thought the interviews had gone well and accepted at places where I came out of the interview feeling terrible. It’s really a humbling experience. You have a positive attitude and I wish all of you the best! I am sure you will do great wherever you end up.

@Doyouknowwhoiam what do you mean?it is very good that you got an interview, only 25/400 applicants get one. The same goes for every program, getting an interview is a great thing. Idk it is any different at Stony Brook lol. You cant get accepted to these programs (with few exceptions) without an interview.

For those who are interested in celebrating their alternative options I’ve started a new thread. Here you can post and share and celebrate your excellent alternative options. It might make the waiting time go by better. Also I was hoping that it would take a little bit of the hurt away from rejections. It’s interesting to see where some people go in place of combined programs - other than some obvious ivies. We also need to focus on some positive news right?

For those of you who got into BU SMED, did you hear anything about scholarships?

When are UMiami HPM(E) and Pitt GAP coming out?

Does anyone know when Rice/Baylor interview invitation would be sent? Does it come together with the regular undergraduate admission? Thanks!

@SLCmom - Rice/Baylor is imminent - this week. Rice admissions have been posted to Web portal today. Good luck.

Yea, I got accepted to rice but have not heard from Baylor yet.
