*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

@IMGDAD- Congrats to your son!! 70/500 is amazing. How many seats are in the program?

@hurstian- 90/1700 were invited to interview for PPSP. Pretty darn selective if you ask me. I don’t think you can necessarily compare the difficulty of getting into the most competitive programs, because at least some of it must be random when so many competitive applicants are cut.

CAJ, I login to the account, click on “view status of your application”, On the top it says Congratulations on your admission, then there is “announcement”, under it says view your award online, I click on it, then they ask you to put in your RUID number, date of birth, then the scholarship info comes out. If there is no message on your status page, maybe they have not review your application yet.

IMGDAD, Congrats to you and your son.

@Class1417, thank you. Somehow, I checked, and I do have an announcement for my scholarship award. But, there was nothing about the program. Hopefully I will get something soon. I met the initial requirements, so I am just waiting for the undergrad interview (phone).

@CAJ, right, nothing about the program in Rutgers account, just the undergrad info. When I talked about “under review” (actually it says “being reviewed”), I was talking about REMS. Sorry for the confusion.

@class1417 Did you receive any sort of email notification for your Rutgers/NJMS interview? I find it strange that it’s only available on the scholarship site, which is the last placed I’d look.

Rutgers (phone) interview was notified by e-mail. We have not heard from NJMS yet, so I do not know.

@class1417
@CAJ
for REMS, myRoc account doesn’t look any different than before. I haven’t been able to see the different steps since they made the website update, but myRoc does say my application is complete(:

@starlight27 - I only applied to Villanova/Drexel. I did not apply to the other Drexel programs (I regret it now). So I got notified of the fee from the Villanova/Drexel program.

myroc account says they still need my mid year report, which i’ll have to ask my counselor to submit tomorrow. Does that affect any decisions? I hope not because I only got an email notification about it last week and I haven’t been in school or able to meet my counselor since then.

Does anyone have more information about the USciences/TCMC or the USciences/Cooper Medical program? Not sure which is better. I have an interview on Feb 11. I read on CC that very few applicants selected for the program are offered admission at the medical college. If the undergrad program is not very good and you don’t get into medical school later, that could be quite bad.

Can someone please provide feedback on the Rutgers/Rowan-SOM BA/DO program? I was scheduled to have an interview last week which is now re-scheduled due to the weather. Debating between this and the USciences/TCMC BS/MD program.

@happy - Over the past few months the readings I have come across U of Sciences left me skeptical too. You should dig and read. I did get the feel that because it’s all sciences that getting a good gpa was an issue - not everyone makes it. I too did come across how few of those students go on so something must be happening. Dig & read or call and ask. We chose not to apply there even though it sounds pretty good.

@happy2014- hmm interesting. idk then. That’s frustrating that they would ask you to pay then reject you almost directly after. Sorry. :frowning:

@GreenSage re: REMS application - midyear report

My daughter’s REMS application had the same problem. Her school submitted midyear report to the Common App but they appeared as “optional report”. Her counselor was willing to send one “directly” to Rochester so my daughter asked Rochester if they’d like that, and Rochester replied that the midyear report is not needed, her application is complete and under review, and they will just check off the midyear report on MyRoc and mark her application as complete. That happened over a few days, in two stages (first the midyear report was checked the next day while status is still incomplete, then a few days later status changed to complete).

Unfortunately, she did NOT get a REMS interview notification yet. We’re still hoping, but resigned.

I don’t think your application is harmed, but there is also no harm asking Rochester using this as the reason, you might get some good news! Best of luck.

@happy2014, you will always find reasons to go or not to go to a program, because not many programs are perfect and offers true guarantee. At the SBU/GW program, we were told that every year about 1-2 students do not make it or were kicked out of the program because of failure to keep up with the GPA. Coming back to USciences/TCMC, I believe that because this is a new collaboration, the first batch of students in the program have yet to progress to the medical school. My son applied to the program and has an interview on Monday (tomorrow). I must admit that I was not as worried about USciences as I was with TCMC, although the GPA and MCAT requirements are not available on the website. USciences is not a tough school and so it should not be difficult to maintain a GPA of around 3.5-3.6, no matter how bad the teaching may be since there is always a curve of the scores in every class and so some students are bound to get A grades in the class. I had encouraged my son to accept the offer he has already received for the BS/DO program from Gannon/LECOM but after seeing the match list of the first batch of medical graduates from TCMC, I was most impressed, especially considering that this is a brand new medical school and is a community-based medical school. That is the reason now I have told my son if he wants to go to this program instead of the BS/DO program, if he is offered a place in the USciences program, I would definitely support his choice and give him my blessing. I am posting the link to the match list again:

@IMGDAD thanks for the detailed info. It really helps!

Thank you @shadow522 and @class1417.

@starlight27 - I understand this is part of the process but at the same time it makes me question why the undergrad schools forward so many applications to the medical school for such a limited number of seats.

Has anyone received notification from REMS?

If you look back in this thread, a couple students got the REMS invite.
