Hey guys. I’ve been off of CC for a while so I haven’t been that active.

So who from CC has an interview for the Penn State/Jeff program in about 2 days? Anyone going to the Meet and Greet event tomorrow?

@GreenSage
Hang in there. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you to have some good news soon. Take care and best wishes.

@PEACE4ALL
My daughter said I got one detail of the group discussions wrong, they were not conducted by medical students, instead, one was conducted by Dr. Helit Machaber (program director I think is her title? Not sure) and the other by her husband, Dr. Alex Mechaber, also a physician. My daughter was in the latter group and he told them when they started that it was not evaluative, but just for everyone to relax and get to know one another. They watched a clip from the movie “The Doctor” then talked about what an “ideal” doctor would look like. If you were to pick a surgeon for yourself, would you value technical skills above all else? Or a caring attitude? Basically everyone talked about his or her preference.

Regarding the Singer interview, yes, there were a few students for whom they fitted the interviews into the day or immediately the day after. Some were during the undergraduate campus tour, some after, and at least one first thing next morning. The interview was in the same building from which the campus tour started so everyone was escorted there from the Metrorail station, sparing us from having to figure out where to go. The interview was supposed to be for up to 30 minutes, but was only 20 minutes long. Basically the interviewer went through the common application (he was leafing throught a printout of the application) and asked for details on some of her activities and sports.

Thank you very much for the well wishes! Appreciate the support!

When are the UPitt GAP interview notification come out?

@med007
According to their FAQ, “by the second week in February” by email followed by snailmail. Interview early March.

That’s all I know. Has anyone here heard anything?

Hey guys,

I just wanted to underscore the idea that if you get an interview opportunity, you should take it. I got a BU SMED interview, but I passed up the opportunity thinking that flying to Boston for a program I am not really interested would be pointless. Anyways, I was hoping that I would hear back from UIC GPPA or Northwestern HPME (I am originally from Chicago), but I have not received any email from them yet (fingers crossed). Now I regret my decision of not showing up to the BU interview.

@zryzor, I hope you get some good news from HPME or UIC GPPA program soon. My son and us, the parents, have been going back and forth about whether he should attend the interviews at Texas Tech and at UMKC, since he would rather go to a program in the Northeast. However, after reading more and more about other candidates’ rejections (including from UMKC), we have decided that my son should go to the interviews and only decide if he is offered a place.

greensage- I am sure you will hear some good news soon! Stay positive!! Best Wishes.

I just got an interview at Albany med through RPI :)

OMG YAY we r seeing acceptances on this thread ^^

@IMGDAD Thanks for the encouragement. I hope your son’s interviews go splendidly. I just received an interview notification from Northwestern HPME!!! I am jubilated!

@zryzor- Congrats!! That’s amazing! I hope you hear good news from GPPA as well :D

Just received invitation to submit supplemental application to AMC through RPI (daughter hasn’t looked at it yet but sent me a quick text) so in case there are still folks waiting like us, guess they truly are still reviewing so stay hopeful. Thanks for all the expressions of support and again congrats and best of luck to everyone!

@zryzor Congratulations!!! ^.^ Would you mind posting your extracurriculars? What did you talk about in your essays? If you don’t feel comfortable sharing don’t feel obliged to do so
Best,
