*** BS/MD Interview Notification for Class of 2014***

I just received an interview for HPME! Does anyone know how many people get interviews and how many spots there are in the program?

idk how accurate this is but i heard that approximately 160 people get invited to interview, and roughly 40 are accepted into the program

@1268623- I heard the same thing as AspiringStudent. Congrats!!! That’s amazing! :D

Hi guys, what are you supposed to wear for interview? Thanks.

@class1417 some wear suits, but you have to really decide how much attention you wan to bring to that. some med program directors have told me they prefer shirts and ties over the suit, but definitely business apparel

@class1417
If it helps, I think almost all the students I saw in last week’s Miami interview were in suits, or at least had a jacket/blazer on. Even the ladies. And that was in 80 degree heat with higher than normal humidity.

From my experience interviewing job applicants (sorry I don’t have experience interviewing students although I do have an adjunct faculty appointment), it is better to be a little overdressed rather than underdressed. I don’t think it would hurt you to bring a coat and tie; you can always take the jacket off if nobody else is wearing one.

What has been the experience of other folks here? Many of you have interviewed.

Thanks davidxavi and SLCMom, and good night.

It is so good to hear of the good news from some of you on your invitation to the HPME interview. I consider that program as one of the crown jewels! Well done, guys, and good luck.

As far as attire for interview, it is ALWAYS better to be overdressed than under-dressed, especially when the interview is for you to eventually be a physician representing the institution you are going to.

U Pitt just emailed rejection (not invited for interview) for daughter. Ah well.

@SLCMom
Thank you. Oh well for me too.

@suchislife
Sorry to hear that but hang in there! Best of luck for the other programs.

@SLCMom, aw that’s too bad): I’m sure your daughter will have other opportunities though!(: There is hope, yet! :D

Drexel

My S just got an email to pay $150 to Drexel. What does this mean? Will he be invited to interview?
He’s been forwarded for Rosemont and Kean programs by the respective schools.

@BiomedicalFather, no, unfortunately it just means that Drexel is going to process your son’s supplemental application. My son’s application from Rosemont and Robert Morris were forwarded to Drexel many weeks ago and he paid the $150 to Drexel about four weeks ago. He is yet to hear from Drexel about any interview.

@shadow522
Thanks! We’ll take heart from your good wishes.

@IMGDAD
That’s probably a good sign! We got the rejection (no interview) from Lehigh about 2 weeks after paying the $150 to Drexel. Didn’t apply to any other programs linked to Drexel.

@IMGDAD, thanks. And good luck to your son in his upcoming interviews. My S is pretty much now hoping on any Drexel options coming through on the BS/MD side. Fortunately he has done well on his regular apps
Already got USC Bio Med Eng + Premed Track and U.Mich Ann Arbor, School of Eng. Both very highly rated engineering programs. If his BS/MD plans do not pan out he is likely to take up engineering for UG with a pre-med focus.

@biomedfather - good luck.

@BiomedicalFather, congrats to your son on his UG engineering/Pre-Med acceptances. Yes, those are very highly rated programs. I think the first wave of rejections from Drexel was for those applying for the 3+4 program, and that includes the program at LeHigh. My son got his rejection from Drexel for the Rosemont/Drexel 3+4 program two weeks after submitting his $150 but the payment is still good for the 4+4 programs that he has applied to. I understand that notification for all the 4+4 programs should be out by the end of this week or sometimes next week.

@IMGDAD, did your S hear anything from Ursinus? My S is waiting to hear if his app has been forwarded to Drexel.
