what can i do to help this summer (step by step will help)

i really want to do this...so please, HELP!!

This summer you need to be prepping like mad for your SAT test. You NEED to up your score by 250-300 points to have a realistic shot at a program (number varies among programs). Also, have you considered trying the ACT? You haven’t taken any SAT II tests? Stay involved in medicine related EC and volunteer work.

is it okay if i take history and math for subject tests?

also, do i tell collleges that i will send scores later?

SAT needs to be much higher. They might look negatively at your age - do not advertise it, keep low profile about it. Try to take ACT. There are a lot of people who have much higher ACT than corresponding SAT. Good luck!

i want to know…

is it too late to take the ACT??

or can i take the subject tests as alternates…

and how do i notify the programs i’m applying to that i will be taking these tests later…

take SAT again

do some research

research on what?

do I have a shot…

i know i will do good on my SAT, i’ve taken so many practice ones, and i got a 2200, i just got overconfident…

somebody please help!

^ They meant Research in Med. lab. However, I believe, though, that 400 hrs of volunteering is enough.

You would have a shot if you get SAT higher or get high score in ACT, as it is mentioned above.

what can i do to help this summer - Practice tons for your tests (particularly, math) to get you score higher. Would be a shame to loose your chance because of test score, you got everything else.

if you get a good SAT score, you’re pretty much set.

you dont need research at all. you already have great med ECs.

thank you so much for the confidence boost..

do u guys think that if i score like a 2200 + and take subject tests and do good…that i’ll have a shot??

yea you’ll have an excellent shot at any program if you score 2200+

and is it okay if i am going to take it the second time?

yea its fine.

would it help if i mentioned that i made a movie, and it was a local hit?? (lol)

what do u guys think i should improve on during the senior year…im taking all AP classes,

but there’s something that happened last year…i only got a 2 on Calc AB exam, b/c our teacher was horrendous…

but i’m taking Calc BC, and if i do good, it will replace that grade…

will i be okay?

you dont have to report bad ap scores if you dont want to…so its ok.

idk about the movie. if you think its important, then mention it. wont really help for the programs imo.

In my experience these programs are not only looking for passion about medicine, they want passion in whatever you love to do. Was this movie a major time commitment? Send them a copy on DVD. It certainly can’t hurt. In one of D’s interviews, they talked more about her 6 years of year-round volleyball than anything related to medicine - and she was accepted.

But your SAT definitely needs improvement and SAT II’s should include a science.

what else do you guys think i should improve on besides SAT…

is it too late to take subject tests, b/c i don’t think im ready…

and zzzboy…how do i refrain from reporting those scores…

does it matter what u get on those scores?

thanks…

i’m sure i can do more than that…

i also want to know whether it’s late, b/c i might consider taking these subject tests:

Math, US hist, science (either physics or bio)

but it’s not too late, right??

somebody plse answer my questions?

SAT II scores are important, not like AP scores.

Some programs REQUIRE 2 or more SAT II’s. You’ll need to check the ones in which you are interested.
