BS/MD programs, chances and advice...

I am going to be a senior in high school this year and would really like to get into BS/MD programs. I need advice so that I can improve my chances.

Academics:

GPA - Unweighted: 3.90 ish
Class Rank: probably top 10%
Class Size: 450
I have almost all A's with a few B's from 8th and 9th grade.

Test Scores:

SAT I Math: 700, 730
SAT I Critical Reading: 630, 600
SAT I Writing: 570, 660
SAT I superscore: 2020
Best sitting: 1990

ACT: 34

SAT II Biology - M: 800
SAT II Chemistry: 780

AP Biology- 5
AP Chemistry- 4
AP English Lang.- 3

Extracurriculars (including senior year):
Science olympiad- 3 years
Mu Alpha Theta(math club)- 2 years
National Honor Society?
+2/3 More I can’t think of right now.

Athletics: Varsity Swim team- 4 years, Soccer team-4 years

Volunteer/Service Work:
Freshman/Sophomore year: volunteered at a hospital a lot
Junior Year: Volunteered with swim team.
Senior Year: Plan on volunteering 100ish hours at the hospital

Honors and Awards: A lot of science olympiad medals from regional and state competitions. Math team awards. + more I cant think of right now.

Job Shadowing- shadowed a few doctors this summer for a total of about 30 hours, most in orthopedic surgery. Probably shadow some more before application time. This really made me interested in medicine, I enjoyed it a lot.

Leadership: … awkward silence…
I will try to start a rocket club this year with my physics teacher; we had discussed it a little when I was in tenth grade. I used to be in student council before I moved and started high school.

I'd like to get into:
Northwestern HPME- #1 choice
Case Western PPSP
RPI/AMC
Boston University
USC BA/MD

Congrats if you managed to read through this whole post!

youre gonna wanna throw that SAT score away, keep the ACT, and get some leadership stuff.

then you'll probably be an average applicant. youll have a good shot if you can whip up some great essays.

yeah...you definitly don't want to show those SAT scores...

i guess you have a chance...make sure to emphasize your medically related EC's in the essays :)

^Thanks for your input.

I think that i will really be able to really show my interest in medicine because of the volunteering and shadowing...

I realize that my SAT is seriously lacking, but i may take it one more time for National Merit, with some actual preparation. I'm also going to take the SAT 2 in math soon and I hope to get above 750 for sure. My classes for junior and senior year were/are very difficult for the most part, so that should help on the academic side, correct? Please realize that these are only the major parts of only my High School career.

Unfortunately, my stats aren't as stellar as some others I've seen, so if anyone has some advice, PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS.

The problem is that there's really nothing to make you stand out. You don't have anything when it comes to leadership and if you list under your honors and awards "science olympiad medals" and "math team awards," I think the admissions office might have a problem taking you seriously. You're really going to have to work on flushing out some positive aspects in your essays.

^Like I said before, what i posted doesn't include all the details, like what awards I have won in science olympiad and in math competitions.
