BS / MD programs?

I have seen the "official" list of colleges that offer BS / MD programs in the United States, but have recently found out that there are other universities that also offer such programs. These universities did not appear on the list. I have checked with this university many many times and they have confirmed that they do in fact have bs / md program.

For that reason, I am asking the general public to list some of the universities with bs / md programs cause I really would like to know more universities with these somewhat "hidden" medical programs.

Also, I am definitely looking for a school with great research opportunities (undergraduate internships or independent research, as well as funding) and with a good science program overall.

Engineering is also something I am look into.

So if my readers could list any of the schools that fit under any one of these categories and LABEL them. it would be much appreciated. it would also be very helpful to my readers and therefore the general public. Thank you
blizzardpenguin is online now

Tufts has an Early Assurance Program for sophomores at participating institutions. The institutions currently participating in this program are: Tufts University, Brandeis University, Boston College, College of the Holy Cross, and Northeastern University.

Tell us which ones you already know about, so that will save us the trouble of repeating your “official” list of programs.

Too late. ;)

Since you’ll be needing FA for your full BS/MD program, you must consider how much you’ll be allowed to borrow (and will be able to pay back). For the BS portion, if you have to borrow a lot, you’ll need co-signers.

Are your stats high enough to get some merit money from some schools for the undergrad portion?

What state are you in?

Keep in mind that med school alone will typically cost $250k alone, so if you’ll need to also borrow a lot for undergrad, you may not be able to borrow enough for med school. Some med schools won’t accept students who have too much undergrad loans, because they fear that you won’t be able to fully fund your med school years.

I don’t know how this is all handled in an accelerated program, but the total amount of borrowing will still come into play regardless.

this is the official list
but as demonstrated by some of the posts in response to my thread, there are others out there

alamemom could you elaborate on the ucsd and caltech med program? i had no idea they had one.

i knew about the university of washington in st louis program. this school is primarily the reason why i distrusted the official site, for this great school wasnt on the list.

most of the schools listed by the posts are on the official list. so my advice to my viewers is to start with this list and then branch off from here. learn more.

as for the financial aid
most universities offer need-based financial aid, which i, unfortunately for family, qualify for. so my undergraduate years are basically taken care of. its medical school that i am warned about, but then again. i can get loans and can be paid partway through scholarships and such.

and what stats are you referring to?
the stats that will appear on my college applications?

also, if anyone could list any more universities with bs / md programs that would be greatly appreciated !

Does UCLA really have a bs/md program?
ive looked everywhere for that and i cant find it
any links or information would be much appreciated

It is the UCR/UCLA Thomas Haider Program [UCR Division of Biomedical Sciences - Prospective Medical Students](http://biomed.ucr.edu/content/view/25/49/) . Undergraduate at UCR and medical school at UCLA.

Oh I see. I’m only interested in those programs that you can apply to before the freshman year of college. I’ve found several programs that you can apply to mid year. The downfall of these kind of programs is failing to get into the program.

I would not like that happening to me and do not wish to risk it. Especially only to get into UCLA’s medical school for two years. What’s the point.

alamemom thank you very much
you’ve been a lot of help.

You’re welcome. I agree that the UCR/UCLA program is not as appealing as the combined programs that include your medical school admittance as a freshman. (I put the link in only 'cause you asked!) Good luck!

haha I know I asked and thank you very diligently answering my questions.
i’ll be sure to come to you if i have more :P

happy holidays :D

I’ve been looking into these bs md programs and i was worrying because I’m not in the top 10% of my school. My high school is very competitive and I’m taking mostly ap/dual enrolled classes. The thing that bugs me the most is that if i never took these hard classes i would be top 10 easily. Would the schools that make it a requirement to be top 10% even look at me?
