What are the chances for a top student to get selected in BS/MD programs, who never thought of going into medical field, doing courses/extracurricular activities to build a resume for that but did great on every front like GPA, rigorous courses, SAT etc. What if decided at the time of application process that he might as well do that as he isn’t sure about a major or career yet. Would they consider him?
The application process for BS/MD programs are highly competitive. You’ll be competing against other high stats students that do have some medically-related mentions on their apps.
Since you’re unsure of your career path, that will likely come thru on your application.

“Significant exploration of the field of medicine, such as volunteering,
shadowing, research, or some combination of those.”
If you want to be a doctor, do it the old fashioned way…go to college then med school . But you still have to volunteer, shadow and do research.
