BS MS Combined Computer Science programs

What are the good programs for BS MS Computer Science combined? Are there any you could apply as part of undergraduate admissions?

Not sure how you define “good”, but off the top of my head, here are a few programs in the West that may fit. Not all are exactly CS, but close.

For what it’s worth: as someone who works in tech and has an MS in computer science, I believe the latter has limited value in today’s world.

What is your goal in getting an MS?

If you want to work in the industry, there really isn’t much an MS will get you that a BS in CS won’t. And a BS with internships has greater value than a BS+MS. Some more traditional companies will give you a higher starting salary for having a Master’s but this difference evens out within a couple of years.

Cal Poly lets a student count 8 hours towards both degrees. My son did that for ME and was able to complete a thesis based MS in 5 years.

The bigger question is…why do you feel you need a MS in CS? MS is much more powerful for engineering than for CS.

Purdue has one that my daughter is considering. Based on AP credits, she can complete it in 4 years and the core BS would take 3.5 due to course sequencing (she currently has 3 minors with the extra time).

I don’t think she’d consider it if it took an extra year.

Found a couple of these programs while browsing and was trying to find practicality of such programs

I should have mentioned that I think the Cal Poly program could be completed in 4 years too with APs. The ME BS is 20 more hours than CS. It took my son 5, but he was able to take one 12h term and his last year was mostly thesis.

I think the take home from the thread is that there are lots of good programs where you could do this.
