Quick question:

Do you think enrolling in a 4 year BS/MS Biology program will help towards med school? The reason I ask is because I'm not going to apply MD/PhD: so will the extra academic qualification really make a difference?

Thanks!

Schools that value research probably will, in fact, value such a degree highly, even if you are not applying MSTP.

Ok, just a general question now--what does MSTP stand for? I know it's the same thing as MD/PhD, but.....

Also, thanks for the help. Any other opinions?

Not quite the same thing.

MSTP (Medical Scientist Training Program) is a majority subset of MD/PhD programs - that is, most but not all programs are MSTP. It means that your joint degree will be fully funded by the NIH - i.e. they will pay for tuition.
