BS Placement?

So, I plan to apply to multiple boarding schools next application season. Such as Choate, Loomis, Hotchkiss, and Miss Porter’s. I have read a lot about Choate’s placement test and I have some questions. My school doesn’t offer advanced classes but I have self-studied to Calculus 1. Is it possible for me to test into a high math class (Algebra II Honors)? Do I have to take an official course?

Worry about placement tests once accepted. But in general, no, you do not need to have had a formal course in math or foreign language.

You definitely don’t have to have taken the formal class for Choate. You can self study and skip via the placement test. But you may have to spend the first week or two in the lower class to prove you are ready to move up (that goes for both math and language).
