i've asked this question before, but i just really want some assurance. i'm a senior in high school and i'm about to enter university. my dream is to become an architect, but the only university i can go to does not have arcitecture, so i decided to do civil engineering instead, but i still want to be an architect and not an engineer. now my questions are;

can i have my masters in architecture later?

will i still be qualified as an architect without a bachelor's degree?

is it really a good idea?

i really want answers, cause i don't want to make a mistake.
thanks!

You will be able to practice architecture with an M.Arch no matter what your undergraduate degree is in.

In order to get accepted to an M.Arch program you will need an art portfolio. You will also need some undergraduate courses in studio art or architectural drawing and art history. I don’t know how easy it will be to do this while studying engineering.

It seems that having a degree in civil engineering would make you more valuable as an architect, but only you can decide if this is a good idea. It depends on how you feel about engineering.

I would also expect that some of the engineering courses could be applied toward the M.Arch degree, but this would vary considerably from program to program.
