I was accepted into CMu for BFA in Fine Arts, but my goal is to transfer to the BSCA program. I am wondering how difficult this may be. Is there a lot of competition? Is there any "track" that would guarantee this transfer, given the hard work and effort? Are there any recommended classes t take beforehand? I am torn between UCLA and CMU, but if the BSCA is secure, i would consider CMU more.

sorry i meant bcsa

Hi, I’m in the same situation you’re in. I got accepted by their design school in CFA but was waitlisted for SCS.

I called their admissions office, and they said the chances of doing that are slim because their CS program is pretty full. The dean guy said it is possible if you get good grades your freshman year and apply at the end of freshman year, but the chances of doing so are still small. I also talked to the Dean of SCS and he said you can transfer in as long as you get good grades freshman year. I talked to the BXA advisor and she made it seem like there’s a large chance I can transfer into BCSA. I told her I had AP calc and CS scores that I can transfer and she said that’s great and it should make it easier for me to transfer in.

So I got some varied answers and I’m not 100% sure I can transfer into the program XD
