BSE vs. AB acceptance rate

I didn't do BSE, so this is mostly just out of curiosity, but do the acceptance rates for them differ greatly? I couldn't find a previous post addressing this.

You probably couldn't find different acceptance rates because there aren't any. At Princeton, you don't apply to the seperate schools as you do in other universities. Your indication of BSE or AB is not official and thus isn't recorded so there are no different acceptance rates for this (the adcoms may have this information but I'm sure they wouldn't give it up)

However, I believe BSE applicants compete with BSE applicants and ABs compete with ABs, so what you declare does influence the decision.

Of course, I may be wrong.

They don't officially compete, but the adcoms definitely take it into account (i.e. favor women BSE applicants slightly, etc.). If they officially competed, you would be applying to separate schools (like Cornell or Penn, for example). I prefer Princeton, where you apply to the college and get in, then pick your major.

Also, right now Princeton is working to get students to major in a broader range of departments. They want more engineers.

Alumother, you just made your 1337th post! :D

And we should celebrate? Help me out here, why? Is there a significance to 1337?

Alu

1337th post is sometimes celebrated by message board frequenters, mostly the video gaming hacker type (the type who like to call themselves "teh 1337 haxx0rz"). 1337 is short for 31337 = elite.

Aha.

I am old (49). You must all explain these things to me:).

Thanks.

Haha, us CC kids are so sad. I looked at 49 and immediately 7^2 came up to my mind. Granted, that doesn't make me as 1337 as noticing the post number, but the point stands.
