Pretty much everyone I know in my AP class (the only one offered to sophomores) BS's at least half of their work, if not more. I am guilty of this too.

I hate doing it really, I mean it makes me feel like I'm not giving the class "my all", but sometimes it can't be helped. Like my homework in AP World;
For the last 2 weeks we've been doing review for the exam in May, so the teacher gave us about a 250+ paragraph "essay" that addresses the important themes and events within the last 10,000 years.

Anyway, every 2 paragraphs, we have to make a comment. Now the comments have to follow a guideline, like "this reflects a continuity in..." or "this is similar to", which I've found to be somewhat hard; I've actually come up with some intelligent comments that didn't fit any of the "suggested" openings, so I was forced to write something that's basically crap. I end up summarizing the text, or making references to things that anyone could have done without any substantial knowledge on the time frame.

So my question for you is, how common is BS'ing among AP students, and what have you done (if anything) to try to refrain from doing so?

At least half of the homework I do for Calc BC is random scribbled symbols on a piece of paper that look like what we’re doing but make absolutely no sense. The other half is left blank.

Well if it’s any consolation, I’m just now realizing that doing a 12 page essay the day before it’s due using only Wikipedia gets my friends better grades than me actually legitimately researching 2 weeks before the due date. Our last essay is due May 28th, so after the AP Exam, I’m just Wikipediaing that entire thing.

I BS all my AP work every time, especially Calc. Most of my teachers compensate for the level of difficulty of our tests by just letting whatever slide in terms of homework and stuff like that, so it’s all good.

■■■■■. You guys should see my AP English class. I am currently half-assing an essay that was due a week ago. I was supposed to have some reading (plus a journal) done over the weekend but I totally spaced out and forgot. That will probably get done some time this week. I haven’t done ONE homework assignment this semester, but I still have a 96. This is a disgrace of an AP class.

This thread makes me feel like a hard worker.

Except: I have become a total slacker in World history. I used to do the homework and then get 70s on the tests, leading to solid 96% averages. Now, I write fake paragraphs and thrown in random quotes from Hamlet and movies to see if the teacher actually reads my papers. We’re supposed to do website reviews from a certain list. However, wiki sites are on there, so sometimes I make up pages or write reviews without ever looking at the website. It’s no surprise that this class has a sub-50% passage rate on the AP exam.

I think everyone fakes AP math and science sometimes. If I don’t know a physics question, I randomly write stuff based on F=ma or something. Throw in some I’s.

Inknow someone who drew a pineapple on the AP free response section for Chem and got a 3 and guessed completely on the multiple choice section…this gave me hope

That could be possible, he could have I guess had he known how
to solve it…No one will never know unless he time travels back and actually solve the questions…
