I have a BA in Theatre Arts as well as a Master's in Playwriting from NYU Tisch. All I'm very proud of, but I am seeking a career change. I was hoping to apply for an MSW, but it seems my BA is too specialized for a Master's in Social Work. All the colleges I've checked seek a broad liberal arts background. Does this mean I have to get a second bachelors in Liberal Arts or Social Work? Is there a way around all of this?! Advice?!

I would say in 99% of cases you can go straight into an MSW without getting a BSW. Did you take any social science classes in your undergraduate years? You may have to take a few social science class as prerequisites, but I doubt that you’d need to get a BSW first.

I agree with Julliet. I know here in Florida at UCF, I recently applied for their MSW program and I don’t have a BSW. But their program doesn’t require you to have a BSW. Just as long as you at least have a few social science courses from your undergrad career: i.e. psychology, or any other related courses.
