BU and NYU?? Chance me and I will Chance Back!!

GPA: 3.4 (UW) 3.62 (W) SAT: 1840 Math: 710 CR: 560 W: 570 (WIll take the ACT in June and the SAT again)

Subject Tests: Math Level 1-660 will take Math level 2 and Biology in June (Im expecting around a 660-700 in both)

Will have taken 7 AP's by the end of my senior year
AP Euro: 3 (Sophmore Year, only AP grade so far, i am taking three more in May in my junior year)

EC's:
-Part of the Youth Decide Club
-Raised money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society
-Participated in Alley-oop for Autism
-Participated in the Center for Talented Youth Program for 2 years with distinction in Mathematics (Program is sponsored by Johns Hopkins)
-Competed in 3 science research competitions, (Medical Marvels, Toshiba Explorivison, and DuPont Challenge)

-Helped out at my religious temple
-Conducted a sleep study in India. Gathered information on the sleepiness of High School students during finals week and before finals week. It was an extensive research done over the summer.
-I also play alot of soccer. I am on the Jericho Varsity team (Won 3 New York State championships in a row), im on a club team which is ranked in the top 100 in the country, and i am also part of the Long Island ODP team. I am trying to get recruited to play in college for soccer (I Think That should help a little through admissions).

I think my recomendations will be decent to good. I will focus a lot about my soccer in my essays. I am really busy with soccer with about 3-4 games every weekend with multiple out of state tournaments.

Do you think i can go to Boston University or NYU if i manage to pull of a 1900 supersocre on the SAT or a 28+ ACT and a 650-700 on all of my subject tests? I live in New york and go to one of the toughest schools in the country.

You have great EC’s and rigor, but your SAT score and GPA are probably too low for NYU so I would consider it a reach for you. BU is a realistic school if you raise your SAT score. Check to make sure they superscore because some schools have stopped doing that. Good luck and chance me back if you can. Also consider Northeastern as a school because it’s just as competitive as BU and in the Boston area.

Not going to happen, your GPA is low and your low SAT score “validates” this.
If you had a 3.8+ you would realistically need a 2100 SAT to be competitive. Given your GPA/SAT I think both these schools are out of reach for you.

I talked to the admissions at BU and they said that the middle 50% of the applicants last year that were accepted had between a 1900-2100 and the average gpa was a A-.

Yes, but includes hooked applicants.
An unhooked applicant needs to score above the median.

bump…

If you go to Jericho High School, your chance significanntly decreases(Competitive school).

I would say BU is a high-match school while NU is a low-reach school. You need to get your SAT up to be competitive.

BU CGS is a high-match… NYU a reach.
