BU and NYU

i didn't do great on the SAT, i got a 1950(650 in each part) and my gpa is a 3.59 last i checked.(i think its a 3.6 now). thats weighted by the way.
my ap's are ap spanish, ap calculus, ap us history, and ap biology
i have taken honors biology, chemistry, and 2 years of honors english.
do i have any chance to get in to NYU or BU?
if not, are there any good schools in the north east that would accept me?
i havent taken the act's, and i have taken only the math sat 2 1c and gotten a 690

NYU may be a reach I'm afraid esp. if you're looking at Stern...NYUs avg GPA is 3.65 and i think that's unweighted. their SAT scores avg about what yours are. Unless there's something incredible in your ECs though, you want to be above average at all costs.

BU will probably be the same, but I think you'll have a better shot there.

For reference, I'm applying to both those schools as matches...I have a 32 ACT 2120 SAT, with a 4.05 weighted...and I'm nervous

Look at Northeastern, you'll get in there for sure. I'm not too familiar with east coast...

Grimreefer, I have very similar stats.

Are you at private or public school?

If you have good EC's and a good essay and recommendation, I think you'll get into BU.

NYU is VERY unpredictable. I have a friend that got in with a 3.4 and a friend that got in with a 3.9, and I know like 15 other kids who were rejected and they had GPA's ranging from 3.0 to 4.3.

im at a public highschool right now. i wanted to go to a school with a good pre med program, and i heard nyu and bu are really good. are there any others i should think of? also, whats the most prestigous school i can get in to?(since it looks like nyu is a stretch)

There are plenty of schools that are academically as strong as NYU but not as crazy when it comes to applying there. As far as ones you can get into, I'd say nothing's for sure but you probably have a good chance at Johns Hopkins if you get a 5 on all your science AP's. Maybe UPenn? Or Penn State would be a good match for you.

I don't know a whole lot about medical schools because I'm planning to study theatre. But I think there's a medical school forum around here somewhere?

yea, but it seems everyone there is doing a combined program, which is impossible for me
and u penn is alot harder to get into than nyu

wait, how do i find out if a school has a pre med program?
right now, im going on word of mouth. does BU even have one, im looking at their site and cant find anything.

im also looking at the pre med track but you have to think logically about this...about 50% of pre meds across the nation dont get into ANY of their medical schools that they applied to...at a school like Johns Hopkins you are gonna be up against the best of the best and you won't really stand out out of all the pre-meds. Why apply to medical school with a low GPA and the bottom of your class?? There are plenty of other schools out there with high acceptance rates to medical schools. My cousin for instance went to CUNY queens college, did awesome got accepted to Mt Sinai medical school and now has a chair in the Mt Sinai vascular surgery department...major $$$. I wouldnt worry too much about what undergrad pre-med you're in, just do amazing wherever you go and strive to be the top student.

well, my guidance counceler said i can definatly get into binghamton, mayby i should go there, but i can also go to northeastern. whats better?

(at least at my school) Binghampton has a better overall academic reputation. Not sure about the specifics of medical school.

For most schools, you would major in biology or chemistry or something like that, not pre-med specifically.

how about penn state university park? that would be a match, maybe a safe-match for you.
