I am currently considering going into a special program in Wharton at Penn, but I don’t know if my needed financial aid will come through or not. If not, I am thinking of attending UT or BU’s business schools. Any thoughts on which school I should attend? I am planning to go into international business with a focus on the Japanese language and culture. Thanks!

Wharton is the top school for business but if it does not come through then SMG is outstanding. See previous threads on SMG especially about te SMG Boot Camp. Never heard of the UT program. Do you like urban life styles and the East Coast? I would think it is better for business internships.

UT's Business program...if you mean the University of Texas- Austin is excellent, one of the hardest in the country to get into...im not sure but i think it involves a double admissions process...if you dont get into Wharton, UT or BU would b excellent choices...from what ive heard and seen ( went to Open house on the 22nd) bu is extremely underrated....im goin into SMG and i CANNOT WAIT....soo you wont go wrong w/ BU....but check out McCombs at UT...i think i spelled that rite, maybe not...anyhow see which is a better fit...b/c really, if you want fast pace motivated ppl around, Boston is truly phenominal...but if you're more laid back, then maybe the south is a better pick..anyhow visit each and choose between them

What does it say on each school's web site when you search under Japanese studies and clubs? Are there as many international students in Texas as you'd find in Phila. or Boston? What special program at Wharton?

UT business honors?
If so, hands down UT. Their BHP is just really great. If not, well UT's business for the 2006 rankings is ranked # 5 (same leve as NYU stern) while BU's is ranked #40. You do the math. And as far as my knowledge goes, Mccombs is by far more prestigious in both the business and non business world. I think Boston's location is what makes the school so attractive :) But Austin is really great too!

So if the number some magazine gives a school is the deciding factor I guess you have an answer. However, your college experience is about so much more than a magazine's rating. Location and type of students are very important factors to consider. Make your choice on what you will experience for four years not a rating. It seems that the Japanese studies piece is critical. Do all 3 schools have that type of program?

I think what I'm trying to say is that UT's business program far excels BU's when compared on any standards (as far as stats as how many students who get recruited to the big firms, internship oppurtunities, etc.). International Business for UT is ranked #7 and when you think about it, this is a major that is all about what school you go to and how high up it's ranked. UT McCombs is pretty prestigious in the business world. I think as far as location, Boston is such a great city and gorgeous and the school has such a great atmosphere in general. However, my brother attends UT and Austin and UT's campus is amazing. There is so much to do (6th street!) and there is such a laidback kind of atmosphere- people know how to party yet also study hardcore at the same time. Plus, Austin and the surrounding Hill Country is really beautiful :)

My sister is going to UT Mccombs next year as a frosh.
i'm going to be a soph at BU next year....may transfer into SMG.....it seems too intense though--i'd rather go to Mccombs, but i guess it's tooooo late!

Just as closure, I have enrolled at the University of Texas in BHP for the upcoming fall. It's a great choice and I can't wait to start my four years at UT! HOOK EM HORNS!!
