Rejected CAS 3.75 UW GPA and 33 ACT, tons of extracurriculars, 7 APs and 6 college courses already taken and a couple state awards. Surprised because college counselor told me this was easily a safety… good thing I was already accepted to schools I like more. Offered transfer status after two semesters, but will not be taking the offer. Congrats to everyone who got in!
@iconiclife I appealed. Mine took a week. Mine also was very successful. The appeals officer even called my parents and talked to them, got to know the situation… they were so helpful and now I’m able to attend. I would definitely appeal
Accepted!!
2/2 so far, accepted into Northeastern and BU. Im still waiting to hear back from UNC, UMD, Cornell, and Villanova.
1360 SAT, 93.5 UW GPA, 98.2 W GPA, very few EC activities
Also, to those that didn’t get into Kilachand: I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Most people that are in Kilachand leave it because it’s very difficult and the work load is insane.
Just an fyi - I was denied access to the housing portal yet got in today, so don’t take that as an encouraging/discouraging sign
@maplestoryboi you can’t get merit aid for doing well at BU.
To those discussing appeals: I got in ED1 and appealed my aid offer with a letter stating a drastic change in my financial situation but still got nothing. Luckily, I got a Presidential Scholarship about a month after. So be mindful that appeal letters don’t always turn out the way we want them tooooo
Oh, sad… Thanks for the info though.
I definitely need something that can play as a solid appeal to my parents…
I guess I’ll go investigate some more as if I’m writing the supplement for BU again.
My daughter was rejected – per admissions portal (and I think an email to her?) – but the housing portal STILL says “Congratulations on your acceptance”. This is seriously shoddy IT management. I know it might sound like sour grapes, but something like that should not be accessible via an official web page unless it is correct. I feel for those students who really cared and were misled by that. I didn’t tell her yesterday though I was happy to see it.
She was okay with the decision though, as she said she’s pretty much decided she didn’t want to go to a large school, and was accepted at 8 LACs that are less selective (College of the Atlantic, Wheaton in MA, University of New England, Suffolk (Honors College), Roger Williams, Juniata, Eckerd, New College of Florida, and 1 state school, Salem State (Honors College). She applied to Biology and specifically Marine Biology.
BU had been one of her original top choices, and between her sophomore and junior years of hs she spent a week on campus at BU’s Summer Pathways for Girls, a women in STEM program.
I’m posting this here in case any applicants for fall 2018 are looking back.
I’ve worked in higher ed and was involved with the database conversion for an HR module when I was at Bucknell and Amherst, I am thinking of sending notes about this to the heads of Admissions, IT, and Residence Life. They should not be putting students’ data into their housing module if they aren’t accepted. Let alone posting congratulatory letters!
Congrats, @IntoTheWoods !! That’s tremendous news! Would you mind posting her grades, scores, ECs, etc.?
The honors college decision wasn’t in the admission decision letter. There was a separate tab under the dean’s welcome that was the honors college welcome.
My son was put on waitlist! I am very surprised since we thought this was one of our backup schools!
@Hardymum There were several previous posts also stating this had happened last year. It’s quite annoying, but seems like your daughter has wonderful opportunities! Wish her the best.

3.5 UW/28 ACT/URM
@Mitrak oh… Okay. Congratulations!
I’m disappointed i didn’t get kilachand oh well…
Didn’t see those. Just saw the ones that said they were accepted or waitlisted.
Accepted with a full ride!!
accepted! (with no aid other than loans–not surprising though)
For those of you wondering about how to find out if you were accepted to the Kilachand Honors College, my D has an Honors College tab under the Decisions tab. So she is Trustee + Kiachand
