BU Class of 2021 RD Discussion Thread

Accepted 30K a yr

@intstudent2021 stats?

@Mayank21 I wouldn’t like to share the details.
SAT below 1900, above average grades, good ECs, great essays.

With my stats I hoped for a scholarship. Now I’ll probably attend somewhere that is a bit more affordable. Ahwell, still happy that I got in. But I’m also sad because I truly love BU.

Don’t worry guys. We were selected which means we had something inside us. Even I love BU and want to attend it but I prefer to look at the positive side of affairs. I’m sure you guys will get some place which will be a perfect match for you.

I haven’t gotten a decision or rejection from email or on my portal… should I be worried??? did they come out all at once? :*(

@jh1868 You can have your guidance counselor or headmaster/principal call BU to try to find out why you were not offered admission. That’s the best way, especially if your high school historically has many applications/acceptances.

My D was accepted
1460 SAT, 3.87 GPA
ECs: Not great but after-school job at a private middle school (after-school program, tutoring) for last 3 years. Her employer wrote her a fantastic rec.
Essays: She’s a strong writer and I think her “Why BU” essay was really good. We had read somewhere that it was important so she spent time on it.
Recommendations: I didn’t read any of the teacher or counselor recs but teacher recs were probably strong. Counselor probably average.
High School: Public, rural/suburban, typically 12-15 apply to BU and 2-3 are accepted each year.

She got no merit aid - I suspect our ability to pay (in their eyes anyway) probably helped her admission as it seems other people with similar or better stats were rejected or waitlisted.

Accepted yesterday. 92 GPA and 1330 SAT. Strong EC’s and Essays. Accepted into UWisconsin and Ohio State as well.

@itscourtneywow Congrats!! That’s amazing! Did you receive the Trustee scholarship?

Has anybody gotten word about the tuition exchange scholarship? There’s nothing on my financial aid portal about it so would that be a separate notification or did I just not get it? I didn’t apply for need-based aid if that means anything

This might be a stupid question but does BU send out admit packets?

Is there a BU groupme I can join? I would rly appreciate the link to it :slight_smile:

@hazeydays i’m pretty sure they do because they posted a huge mail load with a bunch of boxes on their twitter for the admitted students :slight_smile: hopefully they’ll come tomorrow or the day after

Yes, admit packets are reportedly in the mail. Not sure if ED students will get anything new in this go-round.

@hopeful129 Thank you! I actually didn’t even apply for Trustees. I received the Richard D. Cohen Scholarship, which is both a need and achievement based scholarship.

@MissAnthropy @EofA1120 Thank you guys!

Some posted on this thread they recieved a BU housing Grant. Anyone have information on that they would be villing to share?

My S (U.S. student) doesn’t have an scholarship tab. Rather within the Financial Assistance link it says “Boston University is unable to offer you any grant or scholarship aid”. There is no separate scholarship tab.

very surprised that I got waitlisted.sat 1290 International student.I thought I would be rejected…
