BU Class of 2021 RD Discussion Thread

Green1080, just curious, did you get accepted? My daughter also is going for pre-med. She was offered guaranteed transfer for Fall 2018. She had an ACT composite score of 31 (32 superscored, I think). From what I know, 31 is decent. Her GPA is 3.95 (unweighted) with AP classes and exams. Graduating in top 4% of her class (largest highschool in our state). I think her SAT score was good (don’t know exact). She volunteered and had good extracurriculars. Just got a letter today from school, and she will be receiving the highest level acamedic award this year for academic performance.

@getnintheknow your daughter’s background is similar to my son’s, who got FA $38,000.

TommyCD thanks for the information. Congratulations to your son! Curious to know, was the $38,000 FA all in student loans? Or, was it a combination of things (scholarship, grants, student loans)?

TommyCD, her SAT was in the 1200 some range, which is supposed to be highly competitive and in the top 25% of all test takers (according to Kaplan online). She only took the SAT once. For her ACT, she thought she had submitted her highest score (or encountered a glitch in the process). Turns out, her highest score was not submitted. May be why she didn’t get in. With a 3.95 (unweighted) GPA and other solid stats, understandably disappointing. At least she got the guaranteed transfer option. Hoping there are some good scholarships that go along with that. We are going to submit her highest score ACT anyway, so they have it on file and can see she has the higher test score. May help with what package she is offered.

Yes, my son got his admit package about 5 days after admission and Trustee scholarship information came on the portal. Were in Paris.

@getnintheknow My son’s SAT 1480, ACT 33, Got Total $32,000 grants + $6,000 loans. In FAFSA, I can pay $27,000
It seems BU fully meets my need. But I do not know how to got more from them. My son also got $38,000 grants from other university. Can I appeal using this information? :-*

Does BU mail rejection letters?

anyone have the group me link

@TommyCD You can appeal but be prepared for a no. Is the other school a BU peer school?

Accepted with 29 ACT and 3.8 gpa

@luna10 probably not

Hey everybody.
A question for the international admitted students who have not been given scholarships-
How are you planning to finance your studies at BU? (any scholarships, etc we should be aware of?)
Kindly tag me in your answers

@intstudent2021 same situation here! I currently have no idea

Received a presidential scholarship, but now realise I should have applied for the trustee scholarship (was too lazy in doing so). Is there anyway to receive more scholarship on campus or at Questrom?

I hear from a friend of mine who got into BU that they usually do not change any award allocation…basically the appeal acceptances are rare.

@TomSrOfBoston The reason for my son to apply for UB is that I am a prof. in a univ. that has a tuition exchange program with BU. But I was not luck enough to be selected by my employer.

My son does not need to pay anything in my University if admitted. But he got $ 38,000 grants from my university by himself with strong background. But he does not like to study in my university. Can this be a good reason for me to appeal?

@TommyCD Doubtful.

Accepted into Questrom with a 1300 and a 3.6W and 65K Financial

International student: accepted with 34 ACT, 3.83 GPA. No scholarships.
