BU ed 1 2025

my daughter got in and got 50 grand aid. Her gpa is kind of low, 3.5. SAT 1510. so surprised she got in.

Hello everyone, my daughter got in!! We are so proud of her. She worked very hard and it became her dream school as she worked through the process of applying to schools. Keep pushing everyone. Good things will happen!!

sooo questionā€¦ some schools defer a lot of ED applicants and some donā€™t. Where does BU stand? This could likely help some ED applicants to know if they should hang on to hope or not

Iā€™m honestly not sure but I feel like I saw a lot more deferrals this year than Iā€™ve seen in the past. Possibly COVID related

If your 1 st marking period grades are on a good trajectory and/or you have recently or may be taking SAT/ACT any time soon, it may be worth hanging on for RD decisions. They may have deferred more students this time around in the absence of standardized test scores and wanting to know the senior year first marking period grades. Reasonable from their perspective and from studentsā€™ too.

Yeah I was going to say, being test optional is new to them and I was test optional myself and got deferred so they might just be looking for more academic stuff. I guess a 4.0 unweighted wasnt good enough bc I was test optional

4.0 uw is wonderful, you should have gotten in ED, not sure why they deferred, unless you avoided the challenging honors and AP courses to keep the uw gpa high.

Since you will anyway have the ED advantage in RD cycle, perhaps you may want to consider applying ED2 elsewhere more competitive?

her sat was very high, which is likely what helped her in!

I have a decent amount of APs considering what my school offers and in those aps I have above 95. I have already applied EA to northeastern and I just spent over $400 applying to all the other schools. I really want to go to BU so Iā€™m not doing ED2 elsewhere. I understand they may want to see my progression since they canā€™t see SAT.

If you donā€™t mind can you please share your stats and was the full ride under MERIT based scholarship or financial aid? Thanks in advance.

im in a similar situation. if BU doesnā€™t accept me ED1 how would I get in somewhere more competitive for ED2?

Well you never know unless you try. But if BU is still your top choice, you donā€™t have to.

I might do ED 2 NE or BC but both are a little more competitive so Iā€™m not sure if I should waste my time or not. BU is still my #1

NE and BC appear more competitive because the number of majors they offer is much lower compared to BUā€™s and the cohort sizes of their student bodies for any given year is may be 1/2 to 2/3 rds of BUā€™s. So the student population applying to those limited majors tend to have higher credentials (engineering or business for example). Overall acceptance rates wise I think BU is still ahead of BC and lags NE, but marginally.

Do you think itā€™s worth it to apply ED 2 to either of those or not?

I would say donā€™t ED2 anywhere youā€™re not 100% set on. Plus, for many schools you find out ED2 in February so if accepted, you will have to commit to your ED school without hearing back from BU in the regular round

I was literally thinking the same thing. BU is my #1 but being in the RD pool has me scared

Literally UGH!! I just wanted to know already! I just donā€™t know whether to be hopeful because I got deferred or if theyā€™re just being nice and going to do deny me later on lol

If BU is your top choice donā€™t apply ED2 elsewhere, but if you are ok with comparable schools with a little more prestige or known to give better price breaks or added attractions (like NEā€™s Coop program), you may want to try out.

The fact they deferred you, they like you, may be just waiting for some additional data points before making up their minds.
