I’d like to know more about the College of Engineering at BU.
Are the undergrads going to good grad schools such as MIT, UCBerkely, CalTech?
How well are the programs?
What would you say compared to Engineering at UVA (University of Virginia)?
Thanks!

The main strength in BU engineering lies in its BME program, which is ranked 8th in the nation. And, yes, there are undergrads going to MIT and UCB, usually you'd need around a 3.8 gpa (as i was told) to go to MIT in its grad school

The rest if the engineering program in BU are not as well-known as its BME, but I think there is a solid manufacture & aerospace engineering program in BU, too. The important thing that you'll realize about Engineering is that network is often more important than the school's prestige. So, when you look at the city of Boston, there are definitely enough chances to create networks.

Yes, I have noticed that BU is quite prominent in Biomedical engineering. However, my interest does not lie in BME or aerospace. I do not have a specific area I am interested in yet, but I can say that I'm not interested in those two. How about the other programs? I'm thinking either BU or UVA. What do you think in comparison to UVA's e-school?

One interesting area in the field of engineering is manufacture engineering. BU's manufacture engineering is ranked pretty high in the nation. Also, the electrical and computer engineering in BU are also very big programs. If you are interested in none of the five programs above, for example, mechanical engineering, I'd recommend you to attend UVA for undergrad.

Again, the ranking of schools don't really matter that much in undergraduate level. What is the most important stage is you graduate school or networking. In both schools you can "get in" to graduate programs such as MIT, UC Berkley, Stanford and Harvard, but it really depends on how you perform comparing to your peers.

Even though I love BU, i must warn you that BU has a very rigorous engineering program and the gpa in BU is rumored to be "deflated".

I do not know enough about the UVA e-school to tell you how good they are. But a few engineering major kids on my floor got into UVA last year but chose to attend BU. In term of overall ranking, UVA is definitely ranked higher than BU. But the BME and manufacture engineering program in BU (i think) should be a little bit better than the same programs in UVA.

Hope it helps.
