I realize that there are multiple threads devoted to comparing Tulane and Boston University, but I wanted more specific commentary based on my situation.

I visited Tulane during Honors Weekend in March and absolutely loved it and when I left, I was about 95% sure I wanted to go to Tulane. Then I visited Boston University this past weekend after being admitted to the Kilachand Honors College. Long story short, I loved BU too. I can really see myself at both these colleges.
Both schools offer entirely different experiences in my opinion but both equally wonderful.

Tulane is about half the undergraduate student body size of BU (8000) and is approximately $9,000 cheaper per year with scholarships taken into account (so after four years, a BU education would cost about $35,000 more). I’d also be in the Honors Program.

BU is an urban campus in a fabulous city (with possibly more internship opportunities?), surrounded by other colleges, and I’m in the KHC (which focuses on smaller classes, research opportunities, close work with esteemed faculty, etc.)

Based on this information, where do you think I should go (based on educational quality, academic opportunity, and quality of student life)? Thanks so much for your help!

Also: I am currently undecided as to what to major in, but current options are: computer science or international relations. Also, I’ve never taken a business/economics class but I am open to that (and nearly everything else as well). Hope this helps!

PS- I must commit in three days so prompt responses are much appreciated! :-)

Hahaha in truth I prefer football, which I suppose would mean Tulane? But I’m sure I could learn to love ice hockey too! If it comes down to Wednesday night and I still haven’t decided between the two I might just use this to justify a decision Any other unique ways to decide?

Right now, according to this method, it’s:
Tulane - 1
BU - 0

Save yourself the money and go to Tulane. You will have a great education and fun at either. Use your savings to buy yourself a car for graduation!

Correction: I realized I overestimated the cost of BU. In reality it is only about $6000 more than Tulane ($24000 over four years) but that is still a substantial chunk of change. Especially since I’m considering grad school.

Despite finances (and sports), does anyone see a reason to choose BU? Is a BU education more respected by grad schools, or is Tulane respected by grad schools as well? Thanks for the input so far!

I was in a similar situation, choosing between tulane and BU. honestly they’re both great schools, but it really depends on what you want to study. Ultimately, i chose BU cuz of SMG and the city of boston. i had the chance to visit tulane, but BU won me over already. besides, KHC is a great experience for any BU students. from what i’ve heard, tulane honors only means honors dorms, not honors classes but i may be wrong.

I hope you haven’t set on deciding just yet!

BU is a great snow, the networking abilities would be far superior to Tulane.
Secondly the 24K would be well worth the investment because education is something that will provide a return for a life time. Investing that extra money in a BU KHC experience is something I believe was a great choice. I had to decide between KHC, McGill, Tufts and Emory and in the end I chose KHC at BU. The experience of the KHC is so unique and interdisciplinary that it will provide you with a broad view on any subject. Because KHC exposes you to both humanities and sciences, the college will definitely help you find what you love. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Thanks for all the replies!
aetasaeterna thanks so much for all your insights! It’s true that KHC is such an incredible opportunity and I’m so honored to have even been admitted! I’m absolutely positive that BU offers an phenomenal experience and it’s tough to have to make this decision! However, I did commit to Tulane before reading your post and honestly, no regrets. BU and KHC are absolutely incredible and I truly wish I could experience them too! But unfortunately you have to choose only one college to attend and ultimately Tulane is the best fit for me! I think in this case there really was no wrong choice, just two options that fit individuals differently
Best wishes to you all!
