I got into Berkeley (SPRING admit) and Boston Univeristy (regular).

I live out of state, so Berkeley is pretty expensive.

basically, BU gave me 40000$ to attend.
Berkeley gave me 10000$ merit, so i need to pay the other $31,000 somehow (10,000 in loans offered)

is CAL worth it??

(I want to go to dental school after my undergrad!)

if i were in your position, i’d probably go to BU. my $0.02

A spring admit can save a semester’s worth of costs by taking a semester of transferable community college courses in the fall before arriving at Berkeley in the spring, but that still won’t come close to making up the likely difference in cost.

You should base it on net cost after non-loan financial aid, and note how long any financial aid lasts – one year or all four years.

[BU cost](http://www.bu.edu/finaid/cost/) is about $57,000 resident, $48,000 commuter. Net cost after non-loan financial aid (assuming all $40,000 is non-loan) is $17,000 or $8,000 per year.

[Berkeley out of state cost](http://students.berkeley.edu/finaid/undergraduates/cost.htm) is $50,000 to $54,000. Net cost after non-loan financial aid is $40,000 to $44,000 per year (less for the first year if you do community college in the fall).
