What's your major? NYU is considered to be much more prestigious.

i have this same problem... how would u say the pre med concentrations are at each school...which one would u say is better

Our s chose BU over NYU. BU offered merit aid, NYC is really expensive, NYU has zero campus and is known best for Stern and Tisch for Performing Arts. Try not to make any decisons on the so-called prestige factor which I think is a little shallow and bogus but tempting to get caught up in. There are similar enough that you may want to make your decison based on which offers you the best chance to meet and make friends and have a specific type of college social life. My humble opinion is that it is the main factor that drives student contentment. Both great schools.

thank you so much dogs..that really helps!!

I had a lot of options of other schools like Cornell, GW, see previous posts, but the merit money from BU is important since my parents make a little too much for financial aid but 175,000 is an outrageous sum and I'd hate to end up seeing them not able to retire where they want to or if my dad ever lost his job, which happnes to oldrer guys in the corporate world a lot, then who knows I could feel bad about spending that much money on school. Plus I may want to go to grad school or even law school which is really, really expensive.I liked Boston a lot and BU seemed to be the only urban setting with a campus, no not like a TUfts campus, but defintely more of a campus than NYU. When visiting NYU I asked about center hangout type places and everyone said Wash. Sq but that was full of little kids at the playground, people on the dog park section, a few junkies, and lots of old people not just students. I rode the T at BU and it was like a social event just on public transportation. Everybody was a student. Its hard to choose. I can be a little shy at first and some of the artsy kids I met at NYU were very outgoing from breing in plays and all and seemed to only be interested in that whole scene. I like the arts but I'm not a performer.I worry about the snow and plan to learn to snowboard in one of the BU Snow Clubs. Also my friends sister says when it snows everbody get real friendly all cacooned in for a couple days or has snowball fights or does rail boarding for fun right off campus and that there are places to hang with fireplaces and coffee to stay warm. I just found out I can do the Honors Program at BU so I can stand out a little more there than some of the schools that accepted me where I may not end up being at the top of the class, which I am kind of used to from High School.
