Hi everybody:
I'm applying for engineering and I was accepted to both Poly and BU. Poly wants 10k annually (I live in NYC) while BU wants 35k (20k without room and board.)

Poly: I hear that since NYU acquired the school, they've started to add a lot more things and improve the general quality of education. Also, I hear in 2014 NYU Poly will officially be known as NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. So I guess that's another perk, the increased prestige and all. But my friends have attended the school and they say it's just like high school again.

BU: My friends are pushing me to go because, aside from its prestige, by living by myself in Boston for four years I will be able to better develop and mature.

I have no doubts that I will take advantage of their education and do well academically-- I'm more worried about the "growing" aspect:

Is the BU /going-away-for-college experience worth 100k more than attending a commuter school like Poly?

Thanks everyone.
