Okay which one would you pick: Boston University with a Dean's scholarship or NYU GSP (i still don't know about my financial aid status there).... but just based on the school's rep and the fact that boston is probably gonna give me more money.... which one is better?!?! I can't decide.

Both schools are uber-expensive. The Dean's Scholarship is worth $10K a year. I'm not sure what GSP is; is that the program the Olsen twins were in? In which college at BU would you enroll?

Definitely BU.

GSP is a two year program. Essentially, everyone who enrolls in it is automatically transfered in College of Arts and Science (as long as you don't really eff up).

How big of a factor is money? NYU is generally not good with aid.
Would you rather be in New York or Boston?
What do you want to major in?

I'd pick NYU (even GSP) over BU because I think NYU is the more prestigious school.

Def BU, Gsp for NYU, only if you got into their core program would it be considered a better choice. But it also comes down to what school do you like and what city would you rather be in?

Well... money is kind of a big factor, but I am determined to find a way to pay for whichever school I want to go to. I would definetly rather be in New York, and I applied to the College of Arts and Science for both schools. I applied as a history major to NYU and PreLaw studies in BU. Although I am not completely confident with what major I am going to pursue in college, I am pretty sure that I am looking for a career in law, so pretty much any major can take me there.

I am also thinking of choosing NYU because it has a better name. I am just not sure whether giving up such a good opportunity at BU is a wise decision. They're giving me $26,900 Boston University Grant, $2,000 Supplemental University Grant, $2,500 Federal SEOG, $2,400 Federal Perkins Loan, and $3,500 Federal Pell Grant. That's a total of $37,300. Then the rest would be $2,625 from Federal Direct Subsidized Loan and $2,000 from Federal work-study... thus completeing the $41,925.

And all I've heard from NYU is that they don't really help in financial aid. So... costly dream school (at GSP) or semi-free "good" school?

I would wait to hear from NYU what your financial aid package is there. I mean, you are basically getting a free ride to BU. If you are looking at law school for the future, you are better off having as little debt as possible leaving undergrad.

I'm in the same situation so i know how you feel. I basically have a free ride to University of Maryland, but i really want to go to NYU (GSP), just waiting for financial aid.

I would choose NYU over BU without blinking if the money offer was not too far off. Since you have not heard from NYU yet regarding fin aid, I would recommend waiting on that.

NYU has the Olsen twins. BU does not.

Nuff said.

Hahahah well thanks everyone.... you have helped me a lot. I am interested in seeing what your final decision will be 'timmygobbles67', and I will wait to hear from NYU on their financial aid package. :::fingers crossed::

Don't expect much money from NYU, they really are the stingiest elite school in the country. If cost is an issue, go to Boston University.

At NYU, you weren't accepted into the program you wanted, but at BU you were. Plus, as dwincho said, NYU is incredibly stingy with financial aid and BU already offered you $$$ So with that said...

BU!

Well NYU ended up giving me some money but most of it is loans.... is that bad?... I really want to be in NY.

NYU's fin aid sucks, my brother went there and had a lot of debt. BU and Boston is a great combo.

BU with dean's scholarship.

Loans are bad, and NYU's tuition will only go up!
