BU or UC Berkeley?

I got accepted into both without any financial aid so money isn’t that big of a factor but I was wondering which one I should attend considering reputation, college life, academics, etc. I know Berkeley is really prestigious but I’ve heard that it’s really competitive and the area isn’t the best so I was also considering BU but I don’t know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

BU is also known for grade deflation and as an alumni could agree… I would go with UC Berkeley

What are you planning to study? If you are premed UC Berkeley is a really tough school with lots of weed out. Do you mind very large classes?

From what my kid has told me so far, UCB does a great deal to make sure you are as prepared for your tests as can be. For example, my kid has a huge midterm coming up on Tuesday in his CS70 class, and there are not one but two university-sponsored midterm review sessions that are being held the 2 nights prior. The area has pockets of areas that isn’t the greatest but that’s what gives it a uniqueness to it. And of course the weather will generally be really nice.

Don’t know much about BU the school itself other than that my oldest went there for grad school but online, trying to find out more about them since my nephew wants to attend there for pre-med. It’s in an older area if you’re used to new housing but most of Boston is sort of like that. My D goes to school close by at Northeastern and she has no major issues coming from suburbia.

Sorry, I forgot to mention but I’m going into College of Letters and Sciences as an undecided major.
